The Wallace Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to The Wallace Hotel on a tree-lined stretch of West 76th Street, you immediately get that “this is special” feeling. The five-star property sits perfectly in the Upper West Side’s residential charm — honestly, if you didn’t know better, you might think it was just another elegant townhouse. But step inside and you’re hit with this sophisticated lobby that manages to feel both grand and intimate. The staff actually remembers your name after one interaction, which sounds small but makes such a difference when you’re dealing with New York’s usual pace.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally a two-minute walk from Central Park’s entrance, but tucked away from the tourist chaos that hits the park’s southern end. The Upper West Side here is pure residential luxury — think dog walkers, joggers heading to the reservoir, and locals grabbing coffee at corner cafes. Couples absolutely love it (and I can see why with that 9.6 rating), because you can stroll through Riverside Park at sunset or catch a show at Lincoln Center, which is just a quick subway ride south. Plus, having private parking in Manhattan is basically like finding a unicorn.
The Rooms
The rooms at The Wallace Hotel strike this perfect balance between modern luxury and classic New York elegance. I mean, the windows are huge — you’ll actually get decent natural light, which isn’t always guaranteed in the city. The bathrooms feel more like private spas, with marble details that don’t scream “look how expensive I am” but quietly whisper luxury instead. What really got me was the attention to detail: quality linens that you sink into, blackout curtains that actually work (crucial for city sleeping), and enough outlets placed where you’d actually want them.
Dining & Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant scene is thoughtfully curated rather than trying to be everything to everyone. You’ll find dishes that reflect both international sophistication and local New York flavors — nothing too trendy, just really well-executed food. The bar area becomes this lovely gathering spot in the evenings, where you might chat with other travelers or locals who’ve discovered this gem. Room service arrives promptly and the presentation actually matches the quality, which honestly isn’t always the case even at luxury properties.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.3 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects how The Wallace Hotel gets the fundamentals right while adding those special touches that make a stay memorable. The combination of prime location, genuine service, and refined luxury creates this experience where you feel like you’re living in the best version of New York rather than just visiting it. Whether you’re planning romantic walks through Central Park or exploring the neighborhood’s cultural offerings, you’re staying somewhere that enhances the experience rather than just providing a place to sleep. It’s the kind of hotel that makes you want to extend your stay by a day, just because.

Amazing property in the UWS that is worth every penny! We spent a long weekend at the Wallace Hotel in December and we could not have been happier with our stay.
Arrived early in the morning and our room was not yet ready, but they held our luggage while we went out to explore. The front desk promised to call us if the room opened earlier than the 3pm check-in and they left us a message around noon that we could get into our room. The rooms are extremely clean and very spacious for NYC. Everything about this hotel feels new, chic and just all around comfortable. I am very particular about hotel cleanliness and I can honestly say I have NEVER felt more comfortable than at The Wallace.
They also have a gorgeous lounge on the first floor that gets very busy at night. Be sure to make a reservation for it! We wanted to get a drink on our way out but both nights it was completely booked.Robert from United States (10/10)

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean facilities and the accessible room is perfect for our elderly aunt with limited mobility. Location is safe and just a few blocks away from Columbus Circle, Central Park, Lincoln Centre. Many food choices around the area.

Just luxurious enough, with robes, slippers, automatic shades, nice bathroom products … The bed was comfortable; the room quiet. We enjoyed the Nespresso machine and the lighting technology in the room. The push-button “do not disturb” function is cool. Front desk personnel were kind; elevators are quick. The bar downstairs was hopping. Seems like a place to be for even non-hotel patrons. There are a few cute boutiques in the vicinity, and a selection of nice restaurants. We loved Maison Pickle for brunch, and Black Press Coffee for joe. The 72nd Street MTA stop is about a 5 or 6 minute walk away, which makes for a rather easy journey downtown.
