The thing about this spot is the location is just… smart. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Empire State Building (which means yes, you’ll hear some street noise during the day, but it dies down surprisingly well at night), and Penn Station is close enough that you’re not dragging luggage through subway turnstiles if you’re coming in on Amtrak. What I really love though is how you can walk to Korea Town in like three minutes – there’s this whole strip of 32nd Street between Fifth and Broadway that locals know about, with some seriously good late-night eats. The hotel staff actually knows this too, which is refreshing.

The rooms themselves feel distinctly European, probably because it’s part of a Turkish hotel group, and there’s this attention to detail that you don’t always get in American chains. The marble in the bathrooms is real marble, not that fake stuff, and the beds are firm in a way that actually helps you sleep instead of just looking impressive. I mean, it’s definitely a five-star property, but it doesn’t hit you over the head with it. The elevators are quiet – something you don’t think about until you’re staying somewhere with clanky ones – and the whole building has this solid, well-built feel. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling tactics, just straightforward hospitality.

What really won me over was discovering the rooftop situation. It’s not some scene-y bar that’ll cost you thirty bucks for a cocktail, just a genuinely nice space where you can actually see the city without fighting crowds. The view hits different at sunset, especially looking south toward the Financial District. And here’s something practical – parking is available but pricey (this is Manhattan, after all), though the subway access is solid enough that you probably won’t need a car anyway. The 6 train at 33rd Street gets you downtown fast, and you can catch the N/Q/R/W at Herald Square without much walking.

The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind with over-the-top luxury, but everything works exactly like it should. The housekeeping is thorough, the concierge actually knows the neighborhood instead of just handing you generic tourist maps, and the whole experience feels… reliable, I guess? Like, you’re not going to have any unpleasant surprises, but you’re also not paying for a bunch of amenities you’ll never use. If you want to be in the thick of Midtown energy but come home to somewhere that feels calm and well-run, this place gets it right.
