The Peninsula New York Overview

Look, I’ve walked past The Peninsula probably a hundred times on Fifth Avenue, and honestly? I used to think it was just another fancy hotel trying too hard. But after actually staying there last spring, I get why people keep coming back to this place.

The thing that hits you first isn’t the marble lobby or the doormen in white gloves – though yeah, that’s all very polished – it’s how they somehow make this massive hotel feel like you actually matter. I mean, the front desk guy remembered my name the second day, which never happens to me in New York. And the location is just ridiculous in the best way possible. You’re literally across from the Plaza, walking distance to Central Park, and if you’re into shopping (or just people-watching), you’re right in the thick of everything on Fifth Avenue. I actually grabbed coffee at the little cart outside Bergdorf’s every morning because it was maybe thirty seconds away.

What really got me though was the attention to detail that you don’t expect. The bathroom – and I know this sounds weird to focus on – but the bathroom was larger than some hotel rooms I’ve stayed in, with this deep soaking tub that I definitely used after walking around the city all day. The bed situation is serious too; I’m normally a terrible hotel sleeper, but those sheets were something else entirely. And you know what’s smart? The curtains actually block out the street noise, which matters when you’re right on Fifth Avenue. I was worried about sirens and traffic, but honestly slept better there than I do at home. The Peninsula also does this thing where they give you a smartphone to use during your stay with local recommendations already loaded – sounds gimmicky, but it was actually helpful for finding that little wine bar on 54th Street that I never would have discovered otherwise.

The rooftop bar is worth mentioning too, though it gets packed during sunset hours (go around 4 PM if you want to actually get a seat). The views are exactly what you’d expect from that location, but the cocktails are better than they need to be for a hotel bar. I ended up there two nights just because it felt like such a New York thing to do. Staff throughout the whole place seems to genuinely enjoy working there, which you can tell immediately – there’s none of that forced politeness you get at some luxury places. Even housekeeping was chatty and helpful when I needed extra pillows. Sure, you’re paying for all this attention, but honestly? Sometimes it’s worth it to feel like you’re experiencing the best version of the city.

I believe the hotel keeps the "born of Peninsula soul" in the heart of New York. The location was in the perfect place that can ever be. Rooms were just renovated and you can use technology till to the end as you may can. Rooms were surrounded by big TV that you may also enjoy your own videos, or mobile phone by connecting them. Beds were awful comfortable, bathroom is well marbled and designed also big enough. Bathroom amenities look good, however Peninsula deserve more than them. Due to reason of Rooftap bar exist in this hotel, you will not want to go any other place. Jason is a great manager, try to contact with him at rooftop. Staff were very friendly, concierge especially Peter and Ryan are professional on their duty. If you would like to enjoy the city and taste the high demand comfort at the same time, you should definitely visit.

The staff was awesome, but the shower was broken and it took time to get it fixed. That being said, they offered me keys to another room. Great breakfast. Kind staff. Wonderful gym. The pool is not large but good for basic laps, not crowded, and beautiful views. Super nice staff in both the gym and pool. Very comfortable rooms. Great beds.
