The Lexington Hotel, Autograph Collection Overview
You know what surprised me about The Lexington? It’s got this old-school New York energy that somehow doesn’t feel stuffy or dated. Walking up to the building on Lexington Avenue, you immediately get that classic Manhattan hotel vibe – it’s been around since the 1920s and honestly, it wears its age well. The lobby has this warm, leather-and-mahogany thing going on that feels substantial without being intimidating. I mean, you’re not going to feel underdressed if you roll in after a long travel day, but it’s polished enough that you know you’re somewhere with some history.
The location is actually pretty smart if you think about it. You’re right in the thick of Midtown East, which means you can walk to Grand Central in about five minutes (super handy for airport connections), and you’re close enough to Times Square that it’s doable on foot, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with that tourist chaos every time you step outside. The neighborhood has this business-district energy during the day – lots of people in suits grabbing coffee – but it mellows out in the evenings. I stayed on the 12th floor and honestly, the street noise wasn’t bad at all, which surprised me given how busy Lexington Avenue gets. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid four-star place – not huge by any stretch (this is Manhattan, after all), but thoughtfully laid out. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are updated without losing character, and there’s enough space to actually unpack if you’re staying more than a night or two.
What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic list – he asked what I was in the mood for and pointed me toward this little Italian place on 47th that ended up being perfect. The fitness center is small but functional, and they’ve got a business center that’s actually useful if you need to print boarding passes or deal with work stuff. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with flashy amenities, but everything works well and feels authentic to the city. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s a solid, reliable choice that delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. If you want that quintessential New York hotel experience without paying luxury prices or dealing with boutique hotel quirks, The Lexington hits that sweet spot pretty well.

The location was great and very central. The bed was comfortable, the decor was nice enough, and the included breakfast was great! And who doesn't love free bottled water and coffee at check-in? It wasn't amazing for the high price, but it was more or less the best value we could find in Manhattan on our travel dates.
Miguel from Mexico (8/10)
