Hyatt Place New York City – Times Square Overview
You know what surprised me about the Hyatt Place in Times Square? It’s actually tucked away on West 39th Street, which means you’re close enough to all the madness but not drowning in it every time you step outside. I mean, you can still hear the city humming – this is Manhattan, after all – but you’re not dealing with the Elmo costume guys right at your doorstep.
The lobby hits you with that clean, modern Hyatt vibe, and honestly, after walking through Hell’s Kitchen (which, despite the name, is actually pretty great these days), it feels like stepping into a calm bubble. The staff seemed genuinely helpful when I was there, not just going through the motions like some places in tourist-heavy areas. What I really appreciated was how they handled the evening rush – you know how hotels get crazy around 6 PM when everyone’s trying to figure out dinner plans. The 24/7 market downstairs is clutch for grabbing snacks or a bottle of water without paying bodega prices, though let’s be real, it’s still hotel pricing.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place – clean, functional, with those big windows that actually open (rare in newer hotels). The beds are comfortable enough that you’ll sleep well despite the fact that you’re basically in the heart of everything. I stayed on a higher floor and could see slices of the city between buildings, which was nice. The bathrooms are modern and roomy, with good water pressure – honestly, after a day of walking around the city, that shower hits different. One thing I noticed is the walls are pretty decent for sound – I wasn’t hearing every conversation from the hallway, which can be an issue in busy Manhattan hotels.
Location-wise, you’re about a 5-minute walk to Times Square proper, but you’re also right there in Hell’s Kitchen, which means some seriously good food options. Don’t sleep on the little spots along 9th Avenue – there’s this whole food scene that tourists often miss because they get stuck in the Times Square bubble. The subway access is solid too; you’ve got the A, C, E lines pretty close, and honestly, that’s your lifeline to the rest of the city. Port Authority is right there if you need buses, though I’d probably avoid walking through there late at night just because it gets a bit sketchy.
The rating of 7.6 feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s reliable, clean, and well-positioned. You’re paying for that location convenience, and if you’re planning to be out exploring most of the time anyway, it’s a solid home base. The price point reflects where you are (this is Times Square adjacent, after all), but you’re getting decent value for a legitimate hotel chain in one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the country. Would I stay here again? Yeah, probably – especially if I was traveling with family or needed that reliable, no-surprises experience in the middle of all the chaos.

Reviews of Hyatt Place New York City – Times Square

New York was the final destination in our road trip and what an experience it was. The checkin process was great thanks to Queen Rosa (We love you Rosa 🙂 ), the rooms were nice, tidy and exactly what you need in new york. The breakfast was very rich, fresh and superb, though you may want to come early in the morning to get a seat fast… The location… Wow – such a great location. 7 minutes walk from times square and you're in the center of the best city in the world. We highly recommend this hotel and a special thanks to Fransisco who helped with everything.

I truly appreciated the warm, welcoming demeanor of the staff at the Hyatt Place NYC – Times Square. From the moment I stepped in, everyone I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. It set a wonderfully positive tone for my stay. Additionally, the complimentary breakfast was absolutely fantastic. There was a wide selection of hot and cold items—perfectly cooked eggs, savory sausage, fluffy waffles and pancakes, fresh fruit, and more—making it not only convenient but also surprisingly indulgent. It was a great start to my day and demonstrated the hotel’s commitment to ensuring guests feel taken care of from morning to night.
