The FIDI Hotel Overview
You know what struck me first about The FIDI Hotel? It’s tucked away on Stone Street – and I mean actually tucked away. This little cobblestone stretch feels like you’ve stumbled into old New York, the kind of spot where finance guys used to make deals over whiskey two centuries ago. The building itself has this solid, no-nonsense vibe that fits right in with the historic district, but once you’re inside, it’s clear they’ve put some real thought into making it feel modern without trying too hard.
The rooms are honestly better than I expected for a 4-star in this part of Manhattan. Sure, they’re not enormous (this is FiDi, after all), but they’re smartly designed with these deep windows that actually open – which is rarer than you’d think in newer NYC hotels. The bathrooms have proper water pressure, and the beds are that perfect firmness where you don’t wake up feeling like you wrestled with the mattress all night. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re literally in the heart of the financial district. Stone Street itself is pedestrian-only, so you don’t get the constant honking and traffic noise that plagues most downtown hotels. Though I’ll warn you – weekday mornings can get pretty bustling as the Wall Street crowd heads to work.
Location-wise, this place is sort of a hidden gem if you want to be central but not in the tourist chaos of Midtown. You’re a five-minute walk to the Staten Island Ferry (great for free Statue of Liberty views, by the way), and the subway connections are actually fantastic – you’ve got the R and W trains right at Whitehall, plus the 4, 5, and 6 at Bowling Green. The neighborhood transforms completely after business hours, becoming this almost intimate pocket of the city where you can grab dinner at one of the Stone Street taverns without fighting crowds. Honestly, I’ve stayed in pricier places in Times Square that felt way more hectic and less authentically New York. The 8.2 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in the city, but it delivers on the fundamentals while giving you this genuine sense of place that’s harder and harder to find in Manhattan these days.

Isaac from United States (8/10)
Rooms were comfortable and clean, and the Executive King room was quite large. Staff was mostly (except for one person) quite friendly and accomodating. I appreciated that the complimentary water bottles in the room were refreshed everyday.
Chapman from United States (8/10)
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff was very efficient. The rooms and common areas were very clean and well-maintained. The weekly "wine and unwind" (free glass of wine between 5-7 on weekdays) was a nice touch and the bar/lounge area was very welcoming. The hotel does have an arrangement with a nearby garage for parking (about 2 blocks away), which was great, and the front desk staff was super helpful with instructions.
