The Evelyn NoMad Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of boutique hotels in Manhattan, but The Evelyn NoMad actually surprised me – and honestly, that doesn’t happen often anymore. Walking up to the building on East 27th, you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking (it’s tucked between some pretty unremarkable storefronts), but once you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought about every single detail. The lobby has this warm, residential feel that somehow manages to be elegant without making you feel like you need to whisper.

What I love about this location – and I mean really love – is that you’re right in the sweet spot of NoMad where you can walk to basically everything worthwhile, but you’re not dealing with the absolute chaos of Times Square tourists or the pretentiousness that can come with some of the flashier Midtown spots. Madison Square Park is literally a three-minute walk, which means you’ve got that gorgeous green space for morning coffee or evening wind-down time. The Flatiron Building is right there too, obviously, but more importantly for actual daily life, you’ve got solid restaurants within a block or two (Eleven Madison Park if you’re feeling fancy, but also just really good casual spots), and the subway situation is… well, it’s about as good as it gets with multiple lines nearby.

The rooms themselves are where The Evelyn really shines, though. I stayed on the seventh floor and was expecting typical NYC hotel room syndrome – you know, where you can touch both walls with your arms spread – but there was actually space to move around. The design feels more like a well-appointed apartment than a hotel room, with these rich fabrics and custom furniture that doesn’t look like it came from the same catalog as every other boutique property. The bathroom situation deserves a mention too because honestly, good hotel bathrooms in Manhattan are rarer than they should be at this price point. Here, you get proper counter space and a shower that actually has decent water pressure. Small thing, maybe, but when you’re dealing with long days of walking around the city, it matters. The staff seems to genuinely know what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, they had solid restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps, and when I had a question about getting to JFK, the concierge actually gave me three different options with realistic time estimates. That 8.4 rating makes sense to me because while everything works really well here, you’re definitely paying for the location and attention to detail. It’s not cheap, but if you want to be in the heart of everything without feeling like you’re staying in a corporate hotel factory, The Evelyn delivers on that promise.

Centric hotel right in the center of mid-town. A close walk to many different trains, Ktown and really just anywhere you would like to go. Very safe neighborhood and accommodations staff.

    Comfy beds

  • Jen from Canada (7/10)

The room was small, as expected for New York, but had what we needed and the room was clean and cozy. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel location in Nomad is excellent, walking distance from Penn Stn, and easy access to a number of different subway lines. Not too far a walk to many city attractions. Didn't use the gym but it was small, however seemed to have adequate facilities for a quick hotel workout. It was nice to have breakfast included, however they could do a bit better in the offerings and the space it's offered in.

  • Tonya from United States (9/10)
