Staypineapple, An Artful Hotel, Midtown New York Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Staypineapple, An Artful Hotel, Midtown New York, you immediately notice they’re not trying too hard to be something they’re not. The lobby has this playful pineapple theme that could easily feel gimmicky, but honestly, it works — there’s something refreshing about a four-star hotel that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The staff greets you with genuine warmth, and you can tell right away this isn’t your typical corporate midtown property. I mean, when was the last time you saw pineapple-themed art that actually made you smile instead of cringe?
Location & Neighborhood
The Hell’s Kitchen location is absolutely perfect if you want to feel like you’re actually in New York rather than some tourist bubble. You’re on 36th Street, which puts you close enough to Times Square that you can walk there in about ten minutes, but far enough away that you won’t hear the chaos from your room. What I love about this spot is how you can grab authentic Thai food at 2 AM or duck into one of those tiny corner delis that locals actually use. The subway access is solid too — you’ve got multiple lines within a few blocks, so getting anywhere in the city is pretty straightforward.
The Room Experience
The rooms strike this nice balance between quirky and comfortable that’s harder to pull off than you’d think. Yes, there are pineapple accents everywhere, but they’re done tastefully — think subtle touches rather than a tropical explosion. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are well-designed with good water pressure, which you know matters when you’ve been walking around the city all day. The windows actually open, which is surprisingly rare in midtown hotels, and if you’re facing the right direction, you get some decent city views.
Amenities & Service
What sets this place apart is the attention to small details that make a difference. There’s a 24-hour fitness center that’s actually usable — not just a treadmill crammed into a closet. The business center works when you need it, and the WiFi is fast enough for video calls, which honestly isn’t a given in older New York buildings. The front desk staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood well, so when you ask for restaurant recommendations, you get real suggestions rather than the usual tourist traps. They also have this thing where they leave little pineapple treats in your room, and well, it’s oddly endearing.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel works because it manages to be both fun and functional without sacrificing either. Couples especially seem to appreciate the location — there’s something romantic about being in a real New York neighborhood where you can wander around and discover things together. The 8.6 rating makes sense when you experience how the staff balances professionalism with personality. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or celebrity chef restaurants, but you are getting a solid midtown base with character, reasonable rates for the location, and that rare feeling that the hotel actually wants you to enjoy your stay rather than just process you through.
Hotel in New York reservations spike before fashion week, so style lovers lock in loft suites early.

It was a good location with a lot of options for food/grocery nearby. I liked the hotel had a theme, it made the stay feel unique. The bed was comfortable. I also liked the complimentary beverage/snack – that was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The complimentary water bottle and water refill station were appreciated. The pros outweigh the cons. I had a good stay and it was walkable from Penn Station. It is great for a short-term stay.
