Hyatt Centric Midtown 5th Avenue New York Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hyatt Centric Midtown 5th Avenue New York, you immediately get that “I’m really in Manhattan” feeling. The lobby has this sleek, contemporary vibe that feels distinctly New York without trying too hard — you know what I mean? It’s polished and upscale, but there’s something approachable about it that puts you at ease after navigating the bustling streets outside. The staff actually seems to know what they’re doing, which honestly can be hit or miss at four-star properties in the city.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about this hotel’s location — it’s absolutely spot-on for exploring Manhattan. You’re literally steps from Bryant Park and the New York Public Library, and Fifth Avenue shopping is right there when you walk out the door. The Empire State Building? It’s so close you’ll probably get tired of seeing it (just kidding, you won’t). What I really appreciate is that you’re in the thick of Midtown without being stuck in the Times Square tourist chaos. The subway access is fantastic too — multiple lines within a few blocks, so getting anywhere in the city is actually pretty straightforward.
The Rooms
The rooms are well-designed for Manhattan standards, which means they’re not huge but they use every inch smartly. I mean, this is New York — you’re paying for location, not sprawling square footage. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern with good water pressure (something you definitely shouldn’t take for granted in older NYC buildings). The windows offer decent city views, and if you’re lucky enough to get a room facing the right direction, you might catch a glimpse of the Empire State Building. The tech setup works well too — plenty of outlets and reliable WiFi for getting work done.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast situation here is actually pretty impressive, especially if you have dietary restrictions. They’ve got vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options that don’t feel like afterthoughts — someone clearly put effort into making sure everyone’s covered. The American breakfast classics are solid, and I love that they offer breakfast to-go options because sometimes you just want to grab something and explore the city. The coffee is decent enough, though honestly, you’re in New York, so there are about fifteen amazing coffee shops within a two-block radius if you want to venture out.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is how it balances being a proper hotel with understanding that you’re here to experience New York City. The location score of 9.2 isn’t just a number — couples especially seem to love how easy it is to walk to dinner, shows, or just wander around the neighborhood. You’re close enough to all the major attractions that you won’t spend half your day on the subway, but far enough from the tourist madness that you can actually relax when you come back. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying somewhere nice without breaking the bank on a five-star property.
Hotel in New York reservations spike before fashion week, so style lovers lock in loft suites early.

Joan from United States (9/10)
The room was very nice with a reading chair and a desk and a desk chair as well as a separate toilet area. The coffee maker and motion detector lights are a big plus.

I had dinner at the restaurant which was good. The staff was pleasant.

6 night stay I believe would merit more than a $10 voucher for breakfast.
I did not like the color scheme of the room.
Perfect location for all we wanted to do.
Hotel staff at desk was very friendly.
When room service was offered in the a.m. we asked for them to come back and they never did. We missed 3 room services during a 6 night stay, which was really ok, other than replenishment of bottled water.Michelle from United States (8/10)
Close to Bryant Park/Grand Central Station.
An AMAZING rooftop bar (restaurant) that was intimate, a kind staff (Roberto & Francesco) and had outdoor igloos with views of the Empire State Bldg. A total sleeper of a place-! We felt like we struck gold! The food and drinks were good, too.Maria from United States (9/10)
