Park South Hotel, part of JdV by Hyatt Overview
You know what struck me first about Park South Hotel? It’s got this old-school New York elegance that doesn’t feel stuffy – kind of like stumbling into a well-kept secret in the middle of Manhattan’s organized chaos. The building itself has this beautiful Art Deco vibe from the 1920s, and honestly, walking through that lobby makes you feel like you should be wearing a fedora or something.
The NoMad location is actually perfect if you know the neighborhood. I mean, you’re literally steps away from Madison Square Park (which is where the whole “NoMad” thing comes from – North of Madison Square Park, in case you’re wondering). What’s great is you can grab coffee at Stumptown right in the park, or if you’re feeling fancy, hit up Eleven Madison Park for dinner – though good luck getting a reservation without planning months ahead. The hotel sits on 28th Street, so you’re close enough to the action in Midtown but far enough south that you don’t feel like you’re drowning in Times Square tourists. The subway situation is solid too – you’ve got the 6 train at 28th Street literally around the corner, and the N/Q/R/W at Herald Square is maybe a five-minute walk.
Inside, the rooms have this warm, residential feel that’s honestly refreshing after staying in cookie-cutter chain hotels. The decor leans into rich fabrics and darker wood tones – it feels more like a sophisticated apartment than a hotel room. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed (this is New York, after all, square footage is precious), and the beds are legitimately comfortable. I will say the rooms facing the street can get a bit noisy – 28th Street isn’t exactly quiet, especially during morning rush hour – so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe request something facing the courtyard. The staff really knows their stuff too, which you notice in little ways. Like, they’ll actually give you restaurant recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist spots, and the front desk doesn’t make you feel like you’re bothering them when you ask questions.
What I really appreciate is how the hotel feels connected to the neighborhood rather than isolated from it. The ground floor restaurant, Fonda, serves solid Mexican food (their mezcal selection is no joke), and there’s something nice about being able to grab a decent meal without having to venture out if you’re tired from walking around the city all day. Plus, being part of the Hyatt family means the service standards are consistently high, but it doesn’t feel corporate or impersonal. The whole place has maybe 130 rooms, so it maintains that boutique hotel intimacy where the staff might actually remember your name by day two. If you’re looking for a place that captures some of that classic New York hotel charm without the astronomical prices of the super luxury spots, Park South hits that sweet spot pretty well.

The service was fantastic. We arrived almost at 4 a.m. from long hours delayed flight. They took us immediately to our room and did all the administration on the morning. That we appreciated a lot!

Well located hotel that made most things on the island walkable on our trip. Staff were great. A few doors up from a great bagel shop, so our breakfasts were taken care of. Would happily recommend.

David from Canada (8/10)
vinyl plank flooring instead of carpet. I wish all hotels would do this and this was the main reason we chose this hotel over others nearby. Friendly staff. Quiet. Lack of included breakfast wasn't a problem because there are great options right nearby. Location location location. Will stay here again.
