SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan Chelsea Overview
First Impressions
Walking into SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan Chelsea, you immediately notice how the lobby feels more spacious than most Manhattan hotels — and honestly, that’s saying something in a city where square footage is gold. The modern design strikes that perfect balance between corporate polish and actual warmth, which I appreciate after staying in too many sterile chain hotels. What really caught my attention was how the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, not just going through the motions you sometimes get at four-star properties in busy neighborhoods.
The Chelsea Advantage
The location on West 28th Street puts you right in the sweet spot of Chelsea, and I mean that literally — you’re close enough to the High Line that you can walk there in about ten minutes, but far enough from the tourist crowds that you can actually breathe. Penn Station is just a few blocks south, which makes getting to and from the airports surprisingly painless. What I love about this particular stretch is that you’ve got the Flatiron District practically next door, plus all those great little restaurants and coffee shops that locals actually use. You know what’s really nice? The neighborhood has this lived-in feel that a lot of Midtown lacks.
Suite Life Reality
The suites here are genuinely spacious by New York standards — I’m talking about actual room to move around, not just marketing speak. Each one comes with a separate living area that doesn’t feel like an afterthought, plus a kitchenette that’s actually functional if you want to grab groceries from the Whole Foods nearby. The beds are comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss even at nice hotels in the city. The windows are well-insulated too, so you’re not dealing with constant street noise all night.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens in a bright, airy space that doesn’t feel like a hotel cafeteria, and the spread is better than your typical continental situation — hot items, fresh fruit, decent coffee. I actually found myself lingering there with my laptop some mornings because the atmosphere was pleasant and the WiFi worked reliably. The fitness center is small but well-maintained, with equipment that actually functions properly. There’s also a 24-hour market in the lobby for those late-night snack emergencies that always seem to happen in New York.
Why Guests Love It
What makes SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan Chelsea work so well is how it manages to feel both professional and comfortable — couples particularly seem to appreciate having space to spread out after long days exploring the city. The combination of a prime Chelsea location, genuinely spacious accommodations, and staff who seem to care about their jobs creates an experience that feels more personal than you’d expect from a Marriott property. It’s the kind of place where you can decompress properly between New York adventures, which is exactly what you need in a city that never stops moving.
Hotels in New York tower over skyline rooftops, leafy brownstone lanes, and waterfront promenades.

We stayed here for 9 days as a group of 3 girls in their 20’s. We felt extremely safe being in the hotel, it was in a safe and really nice area with the subway conveniently located on the corner and another 2 blocks away. The doors are locked after 10:30pm so every guest needs a key to get into the hotel.
We got breakfast each day as it is included with the hotel. It was basic American breakfast foods with the options changed each day. The breakfast hall is small but there are 2 levels, even at its busiest we waited less than 5 minutes for a table.
The room was small but to be expected with staying in New York. We got a really nice view of the Empire State Building and Madison square garden.
The house keeping service visited each day and did an amazing job. Thanks Johana! The reception staff and breakfast service staff are also really friendly and inviting.
We were told the elevator was slow, the longest we waited was 5 minutes in the peak of the morning, and we were on the top floor. There is someone on the elevator during the peak times to get to each floor.
There is also a service available in the hotel reception to book a transfer shuttle back to the airport upon departure.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and if I were to come back to NYC I would definitely stay here again.Nicola from United Kingdom (7/10)
