What I love about this particular stretch of the Upper East Side is that you’re close enough to Central Park for morning runs, but you’re also walking distance to some incredible restaurants that tourists often miss. The couples who stay here clearly get it — there’s something romantic about being able to stroll through this neighborhood in the evening, away from the Times Square madness but still very much in the heart of everything.

The Room Experience

I’ll be honest — the rooms aren’t huge by any standard, but they’re thoughtfully designed and those beds are seriously comfortable. The property highlights mention the comfy beds for good reason; I actually slept better here than I have at much more expensive places. The Irish touches throughout the room design give it character without feeling gimmicky, and the bathrooms are well-appointed with good water pressure (always a concern in older New York buildings). The windows offer decent street views, though you’re paying for location here, not panoramic vistas.

The hotel’s restaurant, Fitzer’s, serves solid Irish-American fare that’s actually quite good — not just hotel food that happens to be edible. Their breakfast is hearty and will definitely fuel you for a day of walking around the city. The bar area becomes a nice spot to unwind in the evening, especially if you want to avoid the scene at some of the flashier Midtown spots. While the hotel doesn’t have a gym or spa (space is at a premium in this part of town), they do have partnerships with nearby facilities, which honestly works just fine.
