Millennium Hotel Broadway Times Square Overview
You know what? I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the Millennium on 44th Street, I wasn’t expecting much. The entrance is sort of tucked between those typical midtown storefronts, and let’s face it, Times Square hotels can be hit or miss. But this place actually surprised me in a good way.
The lobby has this warm, old-school New York feel without being stuffy about it. I mean, it’s not trying to be the Plaza or anything, but there’s something solid and reliable about it that I appreciated after dragging my suitcase through Penn Station. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful – not just going through the motions – and they actually knew the neighborhood when I asked about where to grab decent coffee that wasn’t Starbucks (there’s a great little place called Joe Coffee on 44th, by the way). The rooms are what you’d expect for a 4-star in this part of town – clean, comfortable beds, and honestly, pretty quiet considering you’re literally in the heart of everything. I was worried about street noise, but their windows do a solid job blocking out the chaos below. The bathrooms are recently updated, which is always a relief in older NYC buildings.
Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place – the location is absolutely perfect if you want to be in the thick of it without paying those crazy Times Square premium prices. You’re a two-minute walk from all the Broadway theaters (I caught Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers, which is practically next door), but you can also duck down to Bryant Park or walk to Grand Central without breaking a sweat. I loved being able to pop back to the room between afternoon wandering and evening plans – something you can’t really do if you’re staying downtown or in Brooklyn. The neighborhood gets pretty intense during rush hour and theater times, but there’s something energizing about being right in the pulse of it all. Plus, late at night when the crowds thin out, walking back from dinner felt safe and easy. The hotel’s restaurant is decent for a quick breakfast, though I’d recommend exploring the area – there’s incredible food within a few blocks in every direction. One small thing: the elevators can be slow during peak times, but that’s pretty standard for midtown hotels. Overall, it’s exactly what I want from a New York stay – comfortable, well-located, and run by people who seem to actually care about doing their job well.
