Best Western Premier Empire State Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to the Best Western Premier Empire State Hotel on East 30th Street, you’re immediately struck by how it fits seamlessly into the NoMad neighborhood’s refined character. The building itself has that classic New York feel — not flashy, but solid and welcoming. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the Empire State Building, which honestly never gets old, even for someone who’s been in the city for years. The lobby strikes a nice balance between professional and approachable, which pretty much sums up this three-star property’s entire vibe.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about NoMad — it’s one of those neighborhoods that locals actually appreciate, not just tourists. You’re positioned perfectly between Midtown’s energy and the more relaxed pace of the Flatiron District. Madison Square Park is just a few blocks south, and you know what? That’s where you’ll find some of the best people-watching in the city. The subway connections are fantastic too — you’ve got multiple lines within easy walking distance, which makes getting anywhere in Manhattan surprisingly simple. Couples seem to particularly love this spot, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about having the city’s most famous skyscraper practically in your backyard.
The Rooms
The accommodations here are what I’d call smart and efficient — they’ve maximized every square foot without making you feel cramped. The rooms have a contemporary design that feels fresh but not trendy in a way that’ll look dated next year. What I really appreciate is the attention to practical details — good lighting for actually reading, decent closet space (a rarity in Manhattan), and windows that actually open if you prefer fresh air over constant AC. The beds are comfortable enough that you’ll sleep well after a long day of walking around the city, which honestly is half the battle in New York.
Breakfast & Amenities
The American breakfast here is straightforward and satisfying — think classic options done well rather than anything too adventurous. It’s the kind of meal that sets you up properly for a day of exploring without being so heavy that you’re sluggish by noon. The hotel keeps things simple but functional with their amenities — there’s a fitness center that’s actually usable (not just a treadmill shoved in a closet), and the business center works well if you need to print boarding passes or catch up on emails.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is how it balances location with value — you’re getting that prime Manhattan positioning without the premium price tag of some of the bigger name hotels nearby. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay smooth, which you notice in small ways throughout your visit. It’s particularly great for couples who want to be in the heart of everything but still have a peaceful retreat to return to. The neighborhood itself has this wonderful mix of local spots and tourist attractions, so you can grab coffee at a place where actual New Yorkers go, then walk over to see the Empire State Building light up at night.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in New York before marathon weekend fills boutique lobbies with runners.

Lamport from United Kingdom (7/10)
Well located for sightseeing, close to lots of activities and places to eat and drink.
We had two rooms, a twin and a king. The twin was much larger with two big double beds, more space, closets and bigger bathroom. The king was smaller but enough for two!Fotios from Netherlands (7/10)
Descent price, centrally located and yet fairly quiet neighborhood
