LIC Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to LIC Hotel on 21st Street, you immediately get the sense that this place knows what it’s doing. It’s a solid three-star property that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — and honestly, that’s refreshing. The building has this clean, modern look that fits perfectly with Long Island City’s ongoing transformation from industrial neighborhood to trendy residential area. What really caught my attention was how quiet the street felt despite being so close to Manhattan.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Long Island City — it’s one of those spots that locals have been raving about for years, and tourists are finally catching on. You’re literally minutes from Midtown Manhattan via the 7 train or the Queensboro Bridge, but the vibe here is completely different. I mean, you can actually walk down the street without dodging crowds every five seconds. The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you’ve got the East River waterfront just a few blocks away, and some genuinely good restaurant scattered around the neighborhood. Plus, there’s parking right at the hotel, which — if you’ve ever tried to park in Manhattan — you’ll know is basically like finding gold.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place. Clean lines, comfortable bed, and everything worked properly (you know how sometimes the little things don’t quite function right in hotels?). The windows are decent-sized, so you get good natural light during the day. What I appreciated was the attention to practical details — plenty of outlets, good water pressure in the shower, and the air conditioning actually kept the room at the temperature you set it to. Nothing fancy, but everything done right.
The Neighborhood Vibe
Long Island City has this interesting mix going on — you’ve got these sleek new apartment buildings next to old warehouses that have been converted into art studios and trendy spots. Walking around in the evening, especially down toward the waterfront, you get some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline without the Manhattan prices. There’s this whole strip along the water where people jog and hang out, and it actually feels peaceful. The area around the hotel has a few solid restaurant options too, though you’re not exactly in a dining destination — more like a real neighborhood where people actually live.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the kind of place you choose for the hotel itself — it’s the kind of place you choose because it makes sense. You get a clean, comfortable stay in a location that’s genuinely well-connected to Manhattan but feels like you’re staying somewhere with actual character. The fact that couples consistently rate the location so highly tells you something — it’s got that sweet spot of accessibility without the chaos. For the price point, you’re getting solid value and a chance to experience a part of New York that most tourists never see. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
Early hotels booking in New York secures jazz supper clubs, skyline helicopter tours, and Hudson sailing picnics.

Best place for the value for money to stay. The hotel doesn’t look fancy from outside but in terms on service ans quality of cleanliness and breakfast its a 10/10 place to stay. Its also quite close (3mins walking) to the metro station that takes to the heart of the NYC and almost anywhere nearby.

The rooms were big and the bed was huge and comfy. The staff were friendly and the breakfast included was great. Was really useful to be able to store baggage before check in and after check out too. Location was convenient for us too with a subway station 5 min walk away with direct routes to Times Square etc.
