My room on the fourth floor was compact but thoughtfully designed, with decent soundproofing (which matters when you’re literally steps from Broadway’s constant hum of activity). The bed was actually comfortable – I’m talking real sleep, not that “well, I guess this will do” kind of rest you get at some places. What really impressed me was the attention to small details: USB ports right where you need them, a bathroom mirror that doesn’t fog up immediately after a shower, and – this might sound weird – but the towels actually felt substantial, not like those paper-thin things you usually get.

Here’s what makes this spot special though – the location is absolutely perfect if you want to experience real New York without paying Midtown prices. You’re literally two blocks from the A train at 168th, which shoots you down to Columbus Circle in maybe 20 minutes. But honestly, I found myself walking around the neighborhood more than I expected. There’s this incredible Dominican bakery called Malecon just down the street where locals line up for fresh bread every morning – the smell alone will wake you up better than hotel coffee. Fort Tryon Park is a gorgeous 10-minute walk if you need green space, and the views of the Hudson from up there are ridiculous. I actually met a guy at the hotel who’d been staying in Times Square hotels for years and switched to the Edge after a friend’s recommendation – he said he’d never go back to the tourist traps. The neighborhood does get lively, especially on weekends, but it’s the good kind of energy, not sketchy or uncomfortable. Parking can be tricky if you’re driving, but most people taking the subway won’t care. The only real downside I noticed was that room service options are limited, but with dozens of authentic restaurants within a few blocks, you’re honestly better off exploring anyway. For the price point and that 8.7 rating, the Edge delivers exactly what it promises – a clean, comfortable base in one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
