Actually, that’s probably because you get a mix of business travelers and savvy tourists here – not the Times Square crowd stumbling around with oversized shopping bags. The rooms are what you’d expect from Westin – those heavenly beds live up to the hype, and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not doing some weird contortionist routine trying to get ready. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing. I was skeptical about noise levels given the location, but honestly, once those windows are closed, the street noise just disappears. The views vary wildly depending on which side you’re on – some rooms look directly into the Chrysler Building (request this if you can), while others face the more mundane side streets toward Lexington.

Here’s what makes this place work for me: the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner spots, the concierge didn’t just rattle off the usual suspects but pointed me toward some gem tucked away on 38th Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. The fitness center is decent – not huge, but it gets the job done, and it’s rarely crowded early morning or late evening. One thing to know: parking here will cost you dearly, so if you’re driving in, maybe consider one of the lots a few blocks south where it’s slightly less painful. The real magic happens when you step outside though – you’re a five-minute walk from Bryant Park, the library, and some of the best food in the city. Plus, having Grand Central right there means you can actually escape the city easily for day trips up the Hudson Valley or out to Long Island. I’ve recommended this place to friends who were initially hesitant about the Murray Hill location (thinking it might be too quiet), but it’s actually perfect – residential enough to feel like you’re getting a slice of real New York life, but with all the Midtown conveniences. It’s not the flashiest hotel in the city, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

  Thomas was so pleasant and helpful at check-in. Rooms were more spacious than other hotels in NyC. Bed and pillows were as good as they are hyped to be. It was clean, quiet, and it was great coming home to this after a long day of adventures.
