Iroquois New York Times Square Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Midtown, and honestly? The Iroquois caught me off guard in the best way possible. You walk into this place on West 44th and it feels like you’ve stepped out of the Times Square chaos into someone’s really well-appointed living room – if that someone happened to have excellent taste and a serious budget. The lobby’s got this warm, residential vibe that’s such a relief after dodging tourists and those costume characters outside.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to create this bubble of calm literally a stone’s throw from all the madness. I mean, you’re basically between Fifth and Sixth Avenue, which puts you right in the thick of everything, but somehow the rooms are surprisingly quiet. Well, quiet for Manhattan anyway – you’ll still hear the occasional siren, but it’s not that constant street noise that keeps you up all night. The staff actually seems to know what they’re doing too, which is rarer than you’d think in this neighborhood. Check-in was smooth, and the concierge gave me restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist traps (though honestly, even those have their place sometimes).
The rooms themselves feel more like a boutique hotel than what you’d expect from a five-star property in Times Square – I’m talking rich fabrics, thoughtful lighting, and bathrooms that don’t feel like an afterthought. There’s something refreshingly understated about the whole place. You know how some hotels try so hard to impress that they end up feeling cold? This isn’t that. It’s polished without being stuffy, comfortable without being boring. And here’s the thing about the location that took me a while to appreciate – you’re close enough to walk to most Broadway theaters without having to deal with the absolute circus that is the actual Times Square intersection. Bryant Park is just a few blocks east if you need some green space, and Grand Central is totally walkable when you need to get out of the city. The 8.6 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re trying to enjoy New York without losing your mind in the process.

The hotel room was clean, and spacious. I stayed 9 nights. Breakfast included is a bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location a 4-minute walk from Bryant Park, 5 minutes walk from Broadway. This hotel is 0.5 mi (0.9 km) from Times Square and 0.6 mi (1 km) from Grand Central Terminal. close to multiple subway stations, easy walking to east or west sides of New York. Travelling solo felt secure and safe.
