The building itself is this gorgeous converted factory from 1901 — you can still see the original brick walls and industrial bones, but they’ve layered in just enough modern touches to make it feel fresh. I mean, the lobby alone has these massive windows that frame the Manhattan skyline like living artwork. It’s the kind of four-star place that doesn’t try too hard to impress you, which honestly makes it even more impressive.

The East River is literally across the street, and those waterfront views — especially from the higher floors — are absolutely stunning. Brooklyn Bridge Park is a quick walk south, and you’ve got some of the city’s best restaurants within a few blocks. The couples who stay here clearly get it (they rate the location 9.3, which makes total sense). Plus, the L train is close enough to get into Manhattan, but far enough that you won’t hear it.

The American breakfast here is solid, though I’d honestly recommend exploring the neighborhood for your morning meal at least once during your stay. That said, the hotel’s restaurant, Reynard, is worth experiencing — it’s got this wood-fired oven that turns out some seriously good dishes. The cocktail scene is where this place really shines, actually. The rooftop bar gets packed (for good reason), but even the lobby bar has this relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger with a drink while watching the sunset paint the Manhattan skyline.

  The hotel itself is beautifully designed, the bedrooms are really big (especially for a city booking), the beds are extremely comfortable, and the shower is hot and spacious. Our view of the Manhattan skyline was breathtaking. Staff at the door and in the restaurant are really helpful and warm. The location is great for a short walk to the metro, and you're surrounded by gorgeous places to eat and drink. What is offered for breakfast is very tasty. We were first timers in NYC, and this was the perfect location for being able to travel for the sights, but be in a genuinely interesting and chill area away from the tourist crowds. It's a really good hotel.
