Virgin Hotels New York City Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into Virgin Hotels on Broadway – I mean, the NoMad area gets pretty hectic with all the foot traffic between Herald Square and the Flatiron District. But honestly, the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about design here. The lobby has this warm, almost residential vibe that’s refreshing after dealing with the typical corporate hotel sterility you get in most Manhattan places.
The location is actually pretty brilliant if you think about it. Sure, you’re right on Broadway so there’s street noise (pack earplugs if you’re a light sleeper), but you’re also walking distance to Madison Square Garden without being right in the Penn Station chaos. I found myself grabbing coffee at the spot on 28th and Park in the mornings, then walking over to the High Line when I wanted to escape the city noise for a bit. The subway access is solid too – you’ve got the N, Q, R, W lines right there at 28th Street, which honestly gets you pretty much anywhere you need to go without the nightmare transfers.
What really impressed me was the attention to detail in the rooms. The lighting actually works – I mean, you can read without squinting, and there are enough outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and using the lamp. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for NYC standards, though the shower pressure varies depending on what floor you’re on (I learned this the hard way on the 12th floor). The staff seems genuinely helpful rather than going through the motions, which is rare in this price range. Check-in was smooth even during what looked like a busy weekend, and they actually remembered my name when I came back from dinner, which was a nice touch. The only minor complaint I have is that the elevators can be slow during peak hours, but that’s pretty standard for most hotels in this part of town. Overall, it’s got that boutique hotel feel without the pretentious attitude – you’re paying for the location and the experience, and it delivers on both fronts.

Haim from Israel (8/10)
Great vibe, location and facilities. They have 2 restaurants and a rooftop bar, which are great. The location in midtown has its advantages (and disadvantages…), despite having some street noise in the room. The staff is very nice and welcoming. Very cool.
