The lobby has this timeless elegance that doesn’t feel stuffy or overdone, just genuinely sophisticated in a way that makes you want to linger a bit longer than necessary.

The Perfect Manhattan Address

You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re literally across the street from Central Park — I watched joggers and dog walkers from my window every morning. Fifth Avenue shopping is right at your doorstep, and the Metropolitan Museum is just a pleasant stroll through the park. The Plaza Hotel might get more attention, but The Sherry Netherland actually puts you in a quieter pocket of this bustling area. Couples absolutely love it here (they rate the location nearly perfect), and after staying here myself, I totally get why.

The room I stayed in was spacious by Manhattan standards — actually spacious, not just “for New York” spacious. These aren’t your typical hotel rooms either; many feel more like elegant apartments with separate living areas and marble bathrooms that make you want to take longer showers than usual. The beds here are genuinely exceptional — I’m someone who usually tosses and turns in hotel beds, but I slept like a baby every single night. The views vary depending on which side you’re on, but honestly, even the city-facing rooms have character.

Dining and Amenities

The hotel’s restaurant, Cipriani Dolci, brings a touch of Venice to Fifth Avenue with Italian fare that’s both refined and satisfying. I had dinner there twice during my stay — the pasta was perfectly al dente, and the service struck that sweet spot between attentive and unobtrusive. What I really appreciated was the parking availability, which is practically a miracle in this part of Manhattan. Sure, it’s not cheap, but having that option when you’re dealing with luggage or planning day trips outside the city is incredibly valuable.

  Everything – the room was excellent, the staff brilliant, location could not be better for what we wanted. Having such an excellent venue for breakfast/drinks/food next door was also great. All this and such a comfortable bed, and lots of amenities in the room. Please note its Art Deco or thereabouts, so some may call it old style – we arrived on the Queen Mary 2 so it fitted in with the style perfectly.

  Tasteful modernisation of an older property. Staff could not have been more helpful. Perfectly located. Not cheap, but a real treat. Stayed in some great hotels and this was as good as the best.

  The location on 5th Av and 59th Street (Midtown, south east corner of Central Park) is just the best.
  The staff were exceptional and the room (1615) beautifully designed and quiet. We stayed 6 nights.
  The bed was really comfortable with quality linen and pillows.
  We also liked the Cipriani restaurant next door, which can be accessed through a door in the hotel lobby. We had breakfasts there and a lunch. Hotel guests get a 20% discount. It's a popular venue, so lunch/dinner reservations are recommended.
