Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re literally steps from everything that matters in Cape May. The beach is a quick two-minute walk, and you’re surrounded by those famous painted lady Victorian houses that everyone comes to see. Washington Street Mall, where all the shops and cafes are, is right around the corner. You know what’s really nice? You can actually walk to dinner most nights and leave the car parked. Speaking of parking, they’ve got their own lot, which saves you from hunting for street spots during busy summer weekends.

The Rooms

My room had that perfect balance of historic character and modern comfort — high ceilings, period furnishings, but also a decent air conditioning system (trust me, you’ll want that in July). The beds are genuinely comfortable, and most rooms have nice views either toward the ocean or the tree-lined streets. What surprised me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re right in town. The bathrooms are updated without losing that vintage feel, though some are on the smaller side — just something to keep in mind.

Dining & Atmosphere

The restaurant downstairs serves solid American fare with a focus on fresh seafood — I mean, you’re in a fishing town, so they better get that right. Breakfast is particularly good, with local ingredients and portions that’ll fuel you for a day of beach walking or antiquing. The common areas have this relaxed, sophisticated feel that attracts a lot of couples looking for a romantic getaway. You’ll see people reading on the porches in the evening, wine glasses in hand, watching the world go by.

  definitely nostalgic, old style elevator and staff were required to use key and move it up and down. this was fun. the food was delicious and in Ocean 7 restaurant. the pool was good size and clean. beach badges and chair and umbrella included in price.
