Here’s the thing about Mahwah — it’s one of those Bergen County spots that’s perfectly positioned if you know what you’re doing. You’re about 30 minutes from Manhattan when traffic cooperates, and honestly, the parking situation here is a dream compared to what you’d deal with closer to the city. The hotel offers free parking, which is huge if you’re driving up from other parts of New Jersey or coming in from New York. There’s a decent selection of chain restaurants within walking distance, though I’d recommend driving a few minutes to Ramsey or Ridgewood if you want something more interesting for dinner.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was on the third floor — clean, spacious enough for two people, and actually quieter than I expected given the Route 17 location. The beds are those Hilton Sweet Dreams ones, which I mean, they’re pretty solid for hotel beds. What I appreciated was the work desk setup if you need to get some business done, and the bathroom was recently updated with good water pressure. You know what’s nice? The blackout curtains actually work, so you can sleep in if that’s your plan.

Dining & Amenities

The on-site restaurant serves standard American fare — nothing that’ll blow you away, but perfectly fine if you don’t want to venture out. Breakfast is available, though I’d honestly suggest hitting up one of the local diners in the area for a more authentic New Jersey breakfast experience. The fitness center is small but functional, and there’s an indoor pool that’s great if you’re traveling with kids. The business center works well if you need to print boarding passes or handle quick work tasks.
