The Dominick Hotel Overview
Look, I’ve walked past The Dominick probably a hundred times over the years – it’s that sleek tower that sort of rises up out of nowhere on Spring Street, and honestly, I always wondered what it was like inside. Well, I finally got my answer last month, and I mean… wow. The lobby hits you immediately with this whole minimalist-but-warm thing going on, lots of natural light streaming through these massive windows, and you can actually hear yourself think despite being right in the heart of SoHo’s chaos. The staff at check-in were refreshingly normal – not overly chatty, not robotic either, just efficient in that New York way that actually works.
What really got me though was stepping into the room on the 18th floor and seeing the city spread out like that. You know how most hotel rooms in Manhattan face a brick wall or an air shaft? Not here. I’m looking south toward the Financial District, and honestly, the view changes throughout the day in ways I wasn’t expecting – morning light hitting the old cast-iron buildings below, then this golden hour thing happening around 6 PM that makes even the fire escapes look artistic. The room itself feels surprisingly spacious (and I’m used to NYC hotel rooms being glorified closets), with this whole floor-to-ceiling window situation and clean lines that don’t feel cold. The bathroom – okay, this might sound weird – but the shower pressure was actually incredible, which you don’t always get in older buildings around here, though I guess this place is relatively new.
Here’s what I really appreciated: it sits right at that sweet spot where you can walk to basically everything in SoHo and Nolita without dealing with the Times Square tourist madness. I mean, you’re literally two blocks from some of the best coffee in the city (go to La Colombe on Lafayette if you’re an early riser), and the whole Bowery scene is right there when you want dinner that doesn’t involve waiting an hour for a table. The hotel restaurant downstairs is solid – I had breakfast there twice and the eggs benedict didn’t disappoint – but honestly, with this location, you’d be crazy not to explore the neighborhood. One small thing worth mentioning: Spring Street can get a bit noisy on weekend nights with people bar-hopping, but the windows are thick enough that it wasn’t really an issue unless you’re a super light sleeper. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but everything just… works. Good bones, great location, and that rare NYC hotel quality where you actually want to hang out in your room instead of just crash there.

Reviews of The Dominick Hotel
Andrei from Romania (9/10)
The stay was fantastic and I would be more than happy to return. I stayed in a So-Hi Room (3808, floor 38) with an amazing view of Hudson River and Financial District. The room was big and clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had everything you need. Also the personel was nice and welcoming. Saw reviews complaining about the elevator, but in my 5 day stay it was rarely busy and worked flawlessly.

The location was excellent. You were right in the heart of Soho with loads of restaurants and shops. The doorman was knowledgeable and helped us choose between a taxi and an Uber to Newark Airport. Their restaurant recommendations were also good. The view from the room was very nice, and the room had lots of light. The bathroom had lovely amenities (including slippers and bathrobes). The rain shower was perfect and the bathroom had a nice bathtub.

Perhaps the best views in all of Manhattan. Modern tall skyscraper with floor to ceiling 180 degree views out of many rooms, including ours in many directions. Simply breathtaking, exceptional and a real treat to see the city in that way out of the comfort of our room. The rooms were nice and a good size especially for Manhattan and the gym was also very very nice – but the views were just superb. Very special.
