Studios in New York Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Studios in New York on West Street, you’ll notice it’s not trying to be flashy — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star property sits right in the heart of NoMad, which means you’re basically in the sweet spot between Midtown’s chaos and downtown’s artsy vibe. The building has that classic New York feel without the intimidating marble lobby that makes you feel underdressed.
The NoMad Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re actually close to everything that matters without being stuck in the tourist madness. Madison Square Park is literally around the corner (perfect for morning coffee runs), and you can walk to the Flatiron Building in about five minutes. The neighborhood has this great mix of locals and visitors, so you’ll find proper New York delis next to trendy cafes. Couples seem to get this area — there’s something romantic about strolling through these tree-lined streets that feels authentically New York without the Times Square overwhelm.
Your Space
The room setup here is pretty clever, actually. These are studio-style accommodations, which means you get more space to spread out than your typical cramped Manhattan hotel situation. There’s a kitchenette area that’s surprisingly functional — I mean, you’re not going to cook Thanksgiving dinner, but you can definitely handle breakfast and late-night snacks without ordering $30 room service. The layout feels more like a temporary New York apartment than a hotel, which is exactly what some travelers want.
Daily Life Here
What struck me most was how the place operates day-to-day. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out — they’ll point you toward the good bagel place (not the tourist trap one) and tell you which subway entrance is less crowded during rush hour. You know what’s nice? There’s no pretentious concierge trying to upsell you on expensive tours. Instead, you get genuine recommendations from people who actually live and work in the area. The whole vibe is refreshingly straightforward.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but it gets the fundamentals right. The location really is top-notch — recent guests consistently mention how easy it is to get around from here, and couples especially seem to appreciate the neighborhood’s walkable, intimate feel. You’re close enough to catch a Broadway show or hit the big museums, but you can also duck into Eataly for groceries or find a quiet corner in Madison Square Park when the city gets overwhelming. It’s that rare New York accommodation that feels like you’re living here rather than just visiting, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re trying to experience the city like a local rather than checking items off a tourist list.

Very close to Times Square and compact room. It is good if you plan to explore New York all through the day and only come to the Studio to sleep.. The room manager was helpful and courteous.
