Soho Grand Hotel Overview
You know what surprised me most about the Soho Grand? It’s actually quiet at night, despite being right in the thick of everything on West Broadway. I mean, you’re literally steps from some of the best shopping and dining in the city, but somehow they’ve managed to create this cocoon that feels removed from the chaos without being stuffy about it.
The building itself has this industrial-chic thing going on that works perfectly for SoHo – all exposed brick and cast iron details that feel authentic rather than trying-too-hard. When you walk in, there’s this massive staircase that honestly made me feel like I was in some kind of boutique hotel in Paris, except with better lighting. The lobby gets pretty busy during fashion week (fair warning if you’re not into that scene), but most of the time it’s got this relaxed energy where you’ll see a mix of actual New Yorkers grabbing drinks and tourists who clearly did their homework on where to stay.
Here’s the thing about the location – yes, you’re paying SoHo prices, but you’re also getting SoHo access. Prince Street station is basically around the corner, which is clutch for getting anywhere in the city. And if you’re into the whole downtown vibe, you can walk to Nolita for dinner, hit up the galleries on Spring Street, or wander over to the Hudson River park when you need some air. I’ve stayed here twice now, and both times I barely used the subway because everything I wanted was walkable. The rooms are solid – not huge by any stretch (this is Manhattan, after all), but thoughtfully designed with these great big windows that actually open, which you don’t always get in newer hotels. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious, and they’ve got this rainfall shower situation that’s actually decent water pressure, not just for show.
Staff-wise, they seem to get that people staying here aren’t necessarily tourists who need their hand held – they’re helpful without being hovering, if that makes sense. Check-in was smooth both times, and they store luggage without making it feel like you’re asking for a huge favor. One small thing that matters more than you’d think: the elevators are fast and there are enough of them, so you’re not standing around forever trying to get to your room. The 8.4 rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it nails what it’s going for. If you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere that belongs in the neighborhood rather than just dropped into it, and you don’t mind paying a bit extra for that authenticity, it’s worth it.

We have stayed here many times. It is comfortable, chic, and well-located to transit and places of interest. The rooms are attractive and comfortable, and most important, quiet — we never hear noise from other rooms. Staff were very kind and delivered us a complimentary bottle of wine (perhaps due to our long stay, perhaps because it was my birthday — in any case, we felt special and appreciated the wine). One of our favorite things is the breakfast room (in the bar), which is elegant and beautiful; breakfast there is a wonderful way to start the day.

First of all I was warmly welcomed by the staff in the lobby, special thanks to Marcus which was super patient and lovely. The hotel is very clean and organized, the staff keep their space and work quietly without disturbing the guests.
The room was super comfortable, big wardrobe, super big comfy bed. There is a desk for people who has laptobs, and awesome filled bar.
Bathroom very spacious and clean, specially the lighting was perfect.
Location is close to everything in Soho, also to metro station.
Loved everything about this hotel. Would come back!
