The location is honestly pretty brilliant if you know Manhattan at all. You’re planted right in NoMad, which means you can walk to the Flatiron Building in about three minutes, hit up the incredible food scene around Madison Square Park, or duck into that little gem Eataly when you’re craving decent Italian without the Theater District madness. I mean, being on Park Ave South sounds super fancy, but you’re actually in this sweet spot where you avoid the worst of the Midtown crowds while still being close enough to everything that matters. The subway situation is solid too – you’ve got the 6 train right there at 28th Street, plus the N/Q/R/W at Herald Square if you don’t mind a slightly longer walk.

What really surprised me was how they handled the whole luxury thing without making it feel stuffy. The rooms have this rich, almost masculine design – lots of deep colors and quality materials that don’t scream “look how expensive I am.” The beds are legitimately comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which you’d be amazed how many high-end places mess up. Honestly, the staff seems to get that travelers want efficiency over excessive fussing – check-in was smooth, they know the neighborhood well enough to give actual recommendations, and housekeeping doesn’t barge in at 7 AM. The rooftop situation is worth mentioning too, though it can get pretty packed during summer evenings, so maybe hit it up earlier in the day if you want to actually enjoy the views without fighting for space.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t the kind of place where you’re paying extra just for a famous name. The 8.4 rating feels about right; it’s genuinely well-run without being perfect. Sometimes the elevators take forever during busy periods, and if you’re on a lower floor facing Park Ave, there’s definitely some street noise (though honestly, that’s just New York). But for the price point and location, especially if you’re someone who appreciates good design and wants to be in the thick of things without staying in Times Square hell, it’s a solid choice. Plus, there’s something satisfying about telling people you stayed on Park Avenue – even if you’re not dropping Wall Street money to do it.

  Excelent location, excelent staff. Super comfy and very good size for a NYC hotel. We loved our star, Nice bar and pool and a must in NYC. We had to stay in NYC unexpectedly due to the 7/19 airline outage and came really tired from France. To our surprise the hotel was great, in a great location, close to the subway, places to eat, walkable, and the hotel staff super friendly. nice and trendy hotel.
