I was expecting to hear every siren and honking cab, but their windows must be really well insulated because I slept better than I expected to.

The restaurant situation is solid – R Lounge has this cozy, almost speakeasy vibe that’s perfect for a drink after dealing with the tourist madness outside, and their breakfast doesn’t feel like an afterthought. Plus, you’re within walking distance of some genuinely great food. Joe Allen is just a few blocks away if you want that classic theater district experience, or you can head toward Hell’s Kitchen where the restaurant scene has gotten really interesting in the last few years. The subway access is ridiculously convenient too – Times Square station is right there, so you can get pretty much anywhere in the city without dealing with street-level traffic.

I mean, this isn’t going to be the cheapest option in the city, but for Times Square? The value actually makes sense. You’re paying for that location and the fact that you can walk to Broadway shows, Central Park, and most of the major tourist stuff without getting on the subway. More importantly, you’re getting a place that feels like a real hotel, not just a place to crash between sightseeing. It’s the kind of spot where you can bring clients or your parents without worrying about what they’ll think – polished enough to impress, comfortable enough that you’d actually want to hang out in the lobby with a coffee and people-watch.
