Private room in Manhattan Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Private room in Manhattan on West 139th Street, you’re stepping into authentic Harlem — and honestly, that’s exactly what makes this place special. This three-star spot isn’t trying to be something it’s not, which I actually found refreshing after dealing with overly polished hotels downtown. The building has that classic New York character, and you can tell this is a real neighborhood where people actually live, not just a tourist bubble.
The Harlem Advantage
Here’s what I didn’t expect — Harlem has become one of the coolest areas to stay in the city, and the location feedback proves it (couples rate it 8.2, which is pretty solid). You’re close enough to catch the A or D train and be in Midtown in about 20 minutes, but far enough away that you’ll pay half the price and actually sleep at night. The Apollo Theater is practically around the corner, and there are some incredible soul food spots within walking distance that most tourists never discover. The neighborhood offers authentic cultural experiences and vibrant street life that define modern New York.
Your Space
The room itself is what you’d expect from a private accommodation — clean, functional, and honestly more spacious than most Manhattan hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. You’re not getting fancy amenities here, but you are getting a genuine New York experience without the tourist markup. The setup works well if you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the city anyway, which is why most visitors choose this location. Natural light streams through the windows, and the layout maximizes comfort in a compact footprint.
Getting Around
Transportation is actually easier than you might think from this part of town. The 135th Street subway station puts you on express lines that’ll get you to Times Square faster than some hotels that are technically closer but require multiple transfers. Plus, you can walk to Marcus Garvey Park when you need a break from the concrete jungle — something that’s not really an option when you’re staying in the thick of Midtown chaos. The neighborhood’s transit connections make exploring all five boroughs accessible and convenient.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but it delivers on what matters most in New York — location, value, and authenticity. Recent guests consistently highlight the area, and I get why. You’re experiencing the city like someone who actually lives here, not like someone trapped in the tourist machine. The 7.8 rating reflects exactly what this place is: solid, reliable, and refreshingly honest about what it offers. If you want to stay somewhere with character that won’t completely drain your travel budget, this works. The apartment provides everything needed for an extended stay or short visit.
Hotel in New York reservations spike before fashion week, so style lovers lock in loft suites early.

The host was really nice and communication was great. The room and the bathroom was clean and everything felt very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay! 🙂

arriving to the location was convenient via bus or train. We arrived after a long travel day and had a little trouble but after calling the host, we were still able to enter with ease via secure keypad. The kitchen was fully stocked with croissants, gender tea, coffee, a mini fridge of bottled water and more! We were met with a hallway where a series of beautifully decorated rooms showed us to our private room. I felt safe knowing we could lock our door and get back in with a PIN.
The bathroom was directly next to our room and the shower was delightful. Bring your own toiletries if you’re speicific—otherwise this brilliant place had it all!
We had the “Los Angeles” room and the lights and decorations made up for the view. We had vibrant yellows and blues which reminded me of one of my favorite cities. There were clean linens and the room was spotless, complete with complimentary snacks. 10/10 overall, would recommend to traveling workers, young people and small families.Mona from United States (8/10)
This place had many perks quite house for the most part , it came with snacks and drinks in the room , smart tv heater towels , full mirror and a robe. Each room comes with own lock code. I felt safe when leaving my belongings there and had plenty of privacy . Coffee and other treats were available in the well kept kitchen . Cleanliness was a 10! The building is on a street with other apartments. Elevator is an old school pull open door. Although there was smoking in the stairwell and a funny odor at main entrance, I did feel safe here. It’s about a 10 min walk to 125 or 7 min walk to 145 convenient to local bars and lounges. The neighbor itself is busy they OUTSIDEEEEEEEE!!!! LOL but that’s NY !! with a grocery store 4 min away . Liquor stores and bodegas right around the block it was easy to grab my goods and get ready to hit the streeetttssss!!!!My arrival was easy, quick access in and out. Would recommend for convenience and location as I was coming for a friends bday who stayed uptown it was easy to connect for all of our excursions, this is a budget friendly alternative to an hotel!!

For me this was a last minute booking and as this is more an AibB&B than a hotel, Max responded very quick. The room is good with 3 free beverages in the fridge, in a shared kitchen, there is tea and coffee for free and you can prepare a meal. The shared bathroom is clean and good hygiene, everything you need is there including a washing machine. Max like LED lights, you'll find them everywhere

This place is actually so much better than the advertisement. Located in the center of Harlem and nearby to so many restaurants, supermarkets, and subways. It has self-service breakfast (cereals, bread, fruits, etc.) for the guests, and the coffee machine was a champion! The bathroom was nice, and there's hot water. The kitchen has sitting areas to hang out in as well. I will definitely be coming back to stay here.
