The Room Experience

My room was on the sixth floor, and while it won’t win any design awards, everything worked exactly as it should. The bed was comfortable — not amazing, but definitely good enough for a solid night’s sleep. The bathroom was recently updated, which you notice immediately in older hotels like this one. What I really appreciated was the blackout curtains actually blocked out light, and the air conditioning was quiet. You know what’s rare? A hotel where the WiFi actually works well throughout the entire room, but this place managed it.

The restaurant downstairs serves decent American fare, though honestly, with all the incredible food in Flushing, you’d be missing out if you didn’t venture outside. What impressed me more was how smoothly everything ran — the front desk staff knew their stuff about airport shuttles and subway directions, and housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive.   It is super convenient to get into Manhatten in around 30-40 minutes and a better value alternative to Manhatten hotel prices. The hotel sits at the end of the 7 Line. Nice property. The surrounding area is so-so, but we never felt unsafe walking around at night. Some great Asian restaurants/bars in the area.
