Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Midtown, and honestly, the Park Terrace Hotel surprised me in the best way possible. You know that stretch of West 40th between Fifth and Sixth? It’s actually this perfect sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk everywhere but not dealing with the absolute chaos of Times Square (thank god). The building itself has this classic New York vibe – I mean, it’s not trying to be some flashy modern tower, which I appreciate.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to nail that balance between feeling boutique-y without being pretentious about it. The lobby’s got this warm, lived-in elegance – think rich wood tones and comfortable seating where you’d actually want to hang out for a bit. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling tactics, and the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood. When I asked about decent coffee that wasn’t Starbucks, the front desk guy immediately pointed me toward this little place on 39th that locals actually use. That kind of thing matters, you know?

The rooms themselves are what you’d hope for in a solid four-star spot – well-designed without being fussy, actually functional storage (rare in NYC hotels), and windows that open, which is honestly a luxury these days. I stayed on the seventh floor facing west, and while you’re not getting Central Park views or anything, there’s something nice about looking out at the real working neighborhood below. The beds are legitimately comfortable – I’m picky about this stuff – and the bathrooms are updated without trying too hard to be spa-like. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night. You’re close to Bryant Park and the library, so there’s foot traffic during the day, but it’s not like staying near Port Authority where you’re hearing sirens all night. The HVAC actually works properly too, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many places get that wrong. If you’re someone who likes to walk everywhere, this location is honestly perfect – you can hit the Theater District, Bryant Park, or even walk down to Herald Square without thinking twice about it. And Penn Station’s close enough that you’re not stressed about catching trains, but far enough that you’re not dealing with that particular brand of chaos every time you leave the hotel.

  The receptionist kindly chaned my room to Briant Park side. The other side of the hotel seemed nice and quiet but all the views from the window was just the windows of the neighboring buildings.

  The hotel is in a great location, perfect for exploring the city. The room was very cosy and comfortable. I specifically liked the warm lighting. The bathroom was beautiful and great water pressure in the shower. I loved the bar/coffee place on the 6th floor. It‘s beautiful and has wonderful views.
