You know, I’ve walked past the Park Lane New York probably a hundred times over the years, and honestly, it always felt like one of those places that was just… there. But when I finally stayed there last spring, I realized I’d been seriously underestimating this spot. The thing about 36 Central Park South is that you’re literally staring at the park from your window – not some distant glimpse, but actual tree-level views where you can watch the horse carriages clip-clop by below. The building itself has this classic New York bones thing going on, which I mean, you’d expect from something that’s been anchoring that corner for decades.

What really surprised me was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood. Like, when I asked about getting to the Met without dealing with tourist crowds, the concierge didn’t just hand me a generic map – he told me about the 79th Street entrance and which subway exit to use. The rooms are honestly pretty solid for Manhattan standards (and we all know how that goes). Mine had this slightly old-school vibe that felt intentional rather than dated, if that makes sense. The bathroom was one of those where you can actually move around without bumping into everything, which – let’s be real – is kind of a luxury in this city. I will say the air conditioning runs a bit loud, but after a day of walking around the city, it wasn’t exactly keeping me awake.

The whole Central Park South strip gets pretty busy during the day with all the carriage tours and street performers, but there’s something kind of energizing about it rather than annoying. You’re right in the thick of things without feeling like you’re stuck in Times Square chaos. Walking to Lincoln Center takes maybe fifteen minutes if you’re not in a rush, and you can cut through the park to get to the Upper East Side museums – which honestly beats taking the subway when the weather’s decent. The hotel’s restaurant scene is fine, nothing that’ll blow your mind, but there’s something to be said for being able to grab a decent coffee and pastry without venturing into the madness outside. For a 5-star place, it doesn’t feel stuffy or like you need to dress up just to walk through the lobby. The 7.9 rating actually feels about right – it’s really good at what it does without trying to be something it’s not.

  Superb location in NYC, we had a room almost on the top floor which was awesome. We would go for a walk in the park in the morning and come back to a spotless room. The Darling has an awesome view.

  Park Lane is located on Central Park South. If you have the room with the view of the park, it is absolutely spectacular. Also being on Central Park South it is located near some very good restaurants and is only a hop skip and a jump to the theater district. I also have to add that the housekeeping staff did an exceptional job and keeping the room clean.

  Breakfast was good. Staff very attentive. Views from our room on the 45th floor were outstanding the bar on the 46th floor overlooks Central Park. A good place to telax

  Great location. Room was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Maintenance staff very responsive and quickly handled minor heater and sink issues. Fast elevators. Management allowed late check out.
