Hyatt Union Square New York Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to the Hyatt Union Square New York, you immediately get that this is a hotel that knows its neighborhood. The building sits right at the corner of 13th Street and Fourth Avenue, and there’s something refreshing about how it doesn’t try to dominate the streetscape — it actually fits in with the area’s eclectic mix of old and new. The lobby has this understated four-star elegance that feels more authentic New York than trying-too-hard fancy, if you know what I mean.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is what really sets this place apart — and I’m not just saying that because it scored a 9.0 for location. Union Square is one of those neighborhoods that gives you the best of both worlds: you’re close enough to Midtown to walk to Times Square or the Empire State Building, but you’re also in this vibrant area with its own personality. The farmers market at Union Square is literally a few blocks away, and you’ve got some of the city’s best shopping along Broadway and the side streets. What I love is that couples seem to really get this location — they consistently rate it nearly 9 out of 10, probably because there’s so much to explore together without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble.
The Room Experience
The rooms are where this hotel really delivers on comfort. I mean, after walking around New York all day, you want a bed that actually lets you recover — and these beds have earned quite the reputation for being exceptionally comfortable. The rooms themselves have that clean, modern Hyatt aesthetic without being sterile, and there’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in for a few days. You’ll find thoughtful touches that show they understand business and leisure travelers alike, though it’s the sleep quality that guests consistently rave about.
Practical Perks
Here’s something you don’t always find in Manhattan — they actually have private parking available. Trust me, if you’re driving into the city, this is huge. The breakfast setup offers both vegetarian and American options, which covers most bases without being overwhelming. What’s interesting is how many repeat guests this place gets — more than most other properties in the area, which tells you something about the overall experience. When people come back to the same hotel in a city with thousands of options, that’s usually a good sign.
Why Guests Love It
What makes the Hyatt Union Square New York work is that it strikes this balance between being a solid, upscale hotel and actually understanding its neighborhood. You’re not paying for over-the-top amenities you won’t use — instead, you’re getting the fundamentals done really well in one of the city’s most dynamic areas. The fact that it’s in what’s considered the best-rated area of New York doesn’t hurt either. It’s the kind of place where you can have a great stay without feeling like the hotel is trying to be the main attraction — because honestly, in New York, the city itself should be the star.
Apartments in New York suit remote creatives with sunlit studios, editing bays, and co-working rooftops.

We have stayed in many places in nyc to visit our daughter who lives near NYU. This place is by far the best place closest to her. Others are either tiny rooms or desperately need to be updated.

The location was perfect. The rooms, though a little small, were clean and seemed new. The bar downstairs is very nice, has such great vibe and has great drinks.
