42 Hotel Williamsburg Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to 42 Hotel Williamsburg on South 5th Street, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical Brooklyn hotel. The building has this sleek, industrial-chic vibe that somehow feels both modern and perfectly at home in the neighborhood. I mean, Williamsburg has changed so much over the years, but this four-star property manages to capture that sweet spot between trendy and approachable. The entrance is understated but polished — you know you’re somewhere special without feeling intimidated.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Honestly, the location is what really sets this place apart. You’re literally in the heart of one of Brooklyn’s coolest neighborhoods, and I can see why couples rate it so highly. Within a few blocks, you’ve got everything from artisanal coffee shops to some of the city’s best restaurant. The East River waterfront is just a short walk away, and those Manhattan skyline views? Absolutely worth the stroll. Plus, having parking available right at the hotel is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving — trust me, finding a spot in this area can be a nightmare otherwise.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed with clean lines and just the right amount of Brooklyn character. What I appreciated most was how they balanced style with actual comfort — the bed was genuinely comfortable, not just Instagram-worthy. The windows are large enough to let in plenty of natural light, and if you’re lucky enough to snag a higher floor, you might catch glimpses of the city beyond. The bathrooms are modern and well-appointed, though not huge — but honestly, you’re not coming to Williamsburg to hang out in your hotel room all day anyway.

Breakfast and Dining

The American breakfast here is actually pretty solid — nothing too fancy, but they do the classics well. I found myself grabbing coffee and pastries most mornings before heading out to explore, though the full breakfast menu has enough variety to keep you satisfied. What’s nice is that the restaurant area doesn’t feel stuffy or overly formal. It’s the kind of place where you can plan your day over a proper meal without feeling rushed.

Why Guests Love It

Look, there are plenty of hotels in New York, but 42 Hotel Williamsburg gets the balance right between location, comfort, and that distinctly Brooklyn energy. You’re close enough to Manhattan that getting into the city is easy, but you’re also perfectly positioned to experience one of the most vibrant neighborhoods Brooklyn has to offer. The staff seems to genuinely understand what travelers want — they’re helpful without being overbearing, and they clearly know the area well. For couples especially, this spot offers that perfect mix of urban sophistication and neighborhood charm that makes for a memorable stay.

New York’s hotels wrap guests in art-filled lobbies, jazz lounges, and concierge-led borough food tours.

Reviews of 42 Hotel Williamsburg

  • Ana-maria from Romania (9/10)

The room was very clean. The hotel was near transportation and the staff were very nice and polite.

  • Ellen from Ireland (9/10)

The staff was really friendly and welcoming from tips where to head to eat, to storing our luggage to calling an Uber for the airport. The rooms (we stayed 3 nights and 2 nights in the one week while heading off over the weekend) were very clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location was extremely handy with two subway stations a very short walk away and a bus stop 2 min up the road. Lively Williamsburg downtown only 10-15 min walk away. A nice touch was the free little bottle of wine, chocolates and bottles of water in the room. The motorised black out blinds were great to help us get over the jet lag.

  • David from United States (8/10)

Did not eat in the hotel. The location is good, not great – did a fair amount of walking to eat and shop.

I used the gym, which was adequate.

Parking was very convenient but not inexpensive.
