Hotel Richland LES Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Richland LES on Allen Street, you might wonder if you’ve stumbled onto something special — and honestly, you have. This three-star gem sits right in the heart of where Chinatown meets the Lower East Side, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. The lobby has this clean, modern vibe without trying too hard, which I actually appreciated after dealing with some of the stuffier places in Midtown.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about staying on Allen Street — you’re literally in the middle of one of Manhattan’s most authentic neighborhoods. I mean, step outside and you’ve got hand-pulled noodles at Xi’an Famous Foods practically next door, plus all those incredible dim sum spots that locals actually frequent. The subway access is solid too (you’ve got the F train at East Broadway just a few blocks away), but honestly, you’ll probably find yourself walking everywhere because there’s so much happening right around the corner. Couples seem to get this location especially well — there’s something romantic about wandering these historic streets together, especially in the evening when the restaurant lights start glowing.

The Room Experience

What really surprised me about Hotel Richland LES was how well they nailed the basics — particularly the beds. I’m usually pretty picky about mattresses when I travel, but I actually slept better here than I do at home sometimes. The rooms themselves are smartly designed without being cramped, which is no small feat in this part of the city. You know what I loved? The windows actually open (not a given in NYC hotels), so you can hear the authentic sounds of the neighborhood — street vendors, conversations in multiple languages, the occasional delivery truck rumbling by on the cobblestones.

Practical Perks

The staff here gets it — they understand that most guests are here to explore, not to hang around the hotel all day. Check-in was smooth, and when I asked about restaurant recommendations, the front desk person actually knew what they were talking about instead of just handing me a generic tourist map. The WiFi works well (important if you’re trying to navigate the neighborhood or post those inevitable food photos), and there’s decent storage space for your stuff, which matters when you’re staying in a compact urban room.

Why Guests Love It

This hotel works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s a well-run, comfortable base for exploring one of New York’s most vibrant neighborhoods. The combination of genuinely good sleep quality and that unbeatable location creates something special. You’re paying for the experience of staying in authentic New York, not some sanitized version of it. When you wake up and grab coffee from one of the local spots, then spend your day wandering between art galleries, vintage shops, and some of the city’s best food, you’ll understand why this three-star spot consistently gets such high marks from guests who actually know the city.

Hotels in New York tower over skyline rooftops, leafy brownstone lanes, and waterfront promenades.

Amazing location – very close to many different subway stations and a beautiful view over Manhattan bridge. Plenty of great places to eat and drink in walking distance. The room was immaculate, comfortable bed, air conditioning, all the facilities we might have needed including fresh towels and toiletries. The staff were helpful and attentive.

  • Pierre from Belgium (9/10)

    Location, clean , friendly staff

  • Putri from Indonesia (9/10)

I like the location, its very close with subway. The properties is in chinatown where you can find lots of food and restaurants, neighborhoods also safe for family. The staffs are warm, free coffee in lobby 24/7, although room is not that big but they have 2 queens beds and fits for family of four and value for money. Overall we are happy staying in this property and would love to comeback.

  • Victoria from United Kingdom (9/10)

The location is perfect if you want to be in a brilliant little neighbourhood right next to multiple subways stations. It's not midtown so it's a subway ride to the big tourist attractions but I recommend it for more as a place to stay than midtown. The neighbourhood has so many lovely bars and restaurants literally a two minute walk away. Only a short walk to noho and all that has to offer, and then a slightly further walk to soho. Perfect location. Staff were lovely, room was compact but clean, light and all we needed for our stay.
