Hotel Richland LES Overview
You know what struck me first about Hotel Richland LES? It’s actually tucked away on Allen Street in a way that feels intentional – like they picked this spot because they knew what they were doing, not because it was the only space available. I mean, you’re right in the heart of the Lower East Side action, but honestly, the street itself has this quieter energy compared to the chaos on Delancey or Houston just a few blocks over. The building has that classic New York brick facade that doesn’t try too hard to impress, which I sort of appreciated after seeing so many overly sleek places that feel like they could be anywhere.
The location is what really makes this place work, though. You can literally walk to some of the best soup dumplings in the city (I’m talking about Joe’s Shanghai around the corner), and there’s this whole network of little alleys and side streets that most tourists never discover. What I loved was how you’d step out in the morning and smell this mix of fresh bread from the bakeries and whatever amazing thing the street vendors were cooking up. The rooms themselves are solid for a three-star – nothing fancy, but the beds are actually comfortable and the bathrooms are way cleaner than you’d expect for this price point in Manhattan. I will say the walls are a bit thin, so if you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs because you’ll hear your neighbors and probably some street noise, especially on weekends when the nightlife picks up.
Here’s the thing that really won me over: the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about late-night eats, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic flyer – he told me about this 24-hour spot on Orchard Street that locals hit after the bars close, and he was absolutely right. The check-in was smooth (they had my room ready even though I arrived early), and honestly, for an 8.3 rating, I can see why people keep coming back. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it nails the basics and puts you right where you want to be if you’re looking to explore real New York food culture. The subway connections are solid too – you’re close to the F train on East Broadway, and the 6 isn’t far if you need to head uptown. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was planning to spend most of my time eating my way through Chinatown and the LES.

Amazing location – very close to many different subway stations and a beautiful view over Manhattan bridge. Plenty of great places to eat and drink in walking distance. The room was immaculate, comfortable bed, air conditioning, all the facilities we might have needed including fresh towels and toiletries. The staff were helpful and attentive.

Putri from Indonesia (9/10)
I like the location, its very close with subway. The properties is in chinatown where you can find lots of food and restaurants, neighborhoods also safe for family. The staffs are warm, free coffee in lobby 24/7, although room is not that big but they have 2 queens beds and fits for family of four and value for money. Overall we are happy staying in this property and would love to comeback.
Victoria from United Kingdom (9/10)
The location is perfect if you want to be in a brilliant little neighbourhood right next to multiple subways stations. It's not midtown so it's a subway ride to the big tourist attractions but I recommend it for more as a place to stay than midtown. The neighbourhood has so many lovely bars and restaurants literally a two minute walk away. Only a short walk to noho and all that has to offer, and then a slightly further walk to soho. Perfect location. Staff were lovely, room was compact but clean, light and all we needed for our stay.
