33 Hotel, New York City, Seaport Overview
You know what? I walked past 33 Hotel about a dozen times before I actually stayed there, and honestly, I always wondered what it was like inside that sleek building on Peck Slip. Well, turns out it’s pretty damn impressive – the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special in the Seaport without paying those ridiculous Wall Street hotel prices.
The location is actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re in the thick of things without being overwhelmed by tourists. I mean, you’re literally steps from the waterfront, and Stone Street (with all those cobblestones and historic pubs) is basically around the corner. What I love is that you can walk to the Brooklyn Bridge in like five minutes, but when you come back to the hotel at night, Peck Slip gets surprisingly quiet – none of that honking and sirens you’d expect being so close to FiDi. The rooms have this modern, minimalist thing going on that actually works, and the beds are legitimately comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff). The bathrooms are sleek without being cold, if that makes sense, and the water pressure is solid – something you can’t always count on in older NYC buildings.
Here’s what really got me though: the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about coffee that wasn’t Starbucks, the front desk guy directed me to this little spot on Front Street that I never would have found otherwise. And the concierge – she knew which subway entrance to use for different lines, which streets get crazy during rush hour, all that local intel that makes a difference when you’re trying to navigate the city efficiently. The check-in was smooth too, none of that waiting around while they “prepare your room” nonsense. Parking is tricky in this area (honestly, just take the subway), but there’s a garage nearby if you absolutely need it. The hotel gets busy during summer when everyone wants to be near the water, but I stayed in October and it felt perfectly lively without being chaotic. One tiny thing – the elevators can be slow during peak times, but that’s pretty standard for boutique hotels. Overall, it’s one of those places that gets the balance right between being polished and feeling authentic to the neighborhood, which is harder to pull off than you’d think in this part of the city.

A much quieter part of Manhattan. Convenient enough to taxi into the hustle & bustle of that's what you want.

The room was incredibly spacious for New York, the bed was very comfortable and the bathrobe was a nice touch. The lighting was also a vibe and there was a full size mirror. Overall the nicest hotel I've stayed at in New York. Staff were also very friendly.
