Hotel Mimosa Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Mimosa on Division Street, you might almost miss it — and that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star boutique spot sits right in the heart of New York’s Chinatown, tucked between authentic dim sum joints and herb shops that have been here for decades. The entrance is understated, but once you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something special. The lobby feels more like a well-curated living room than a typical hotel space, with warm lighting and thoughtful touches that hint at the neighborhood’s character.

The Chinatown Advantage

Honestly, the location here is what really sets this place apart — couples especially seem to get it, rating the area 8.3 out of 10. You’re literally steps away from some of the city’s best soup dumplings at Joe’s Shanghai, and the morning energy on these streets is something you just can’t experience from Midtown. I mean, where else can you grab fresh lychee from a street vendor, then walk five minutes to catch the subway to anywhere in Manhattan? The Manhattan Bridge is right there too, which makes for some pretty incredible sunrise shots if you’re into that sort of thing.

The Room Experience

The rooms are compact — this is New York, after all — but they’re smartly designed with clean lines and surprisingly good storage solutions. What impressed me most was how quiet everything stays despite being on a busy street; the windows actually do their job. The beds are comfortable enough that you’ll sleep well after a long day of exploring, and the bathrooms are modern without trying too hard to be trendy. You know what’s nice? They’ve managed to include little details like good lighting for getting ready and enough outlets for all your devices.

Neighborhood Flavors

Here’s the thing about staying in Chinatown — you’re not going to need the hotel restaurant much because some of the city’s best food is literally outside your door. But that works in Hotel Mimosa’s favor since they focus on being a great place to rest rather than trying to compete with the incredible eateries surrounding them. Within a two-block radius, you’ve got everything from $3 banh mi to upscale spots that food bloggers rave about. Plus, the late-night options here are actually good, which isn’t something you can say about every Manhattan neighborhood.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.4 rating really makes sense once you spend a night here. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it delivers exactly what most travelers actually want — a clean, comfortable base in an authentic neighborhood that doesn’t feel like a tourist trap. The staff seems to genuinely know the area well, so they can point you toward the good stuff rather than just handing you a generic city guide. For the price point, especially considering you’re getting that prime Chinatown location with easy subway access, it’s honestly hard to beat. You’ll end up spending most of your time exploring anyway, so having a solid, well-located place to come back to each night is really all you need.

Hotels near me in New York deliver quick walks to Central Park picnics, museum nights, and Hudson River biking.

  • Monika from Hungary (9/10)

It is a very nice hotel, located in a good place in New York. It gives what a hotel needs to give in New York. Small room but this is what you need in NY, you wont spend much time in your accommodation during your stay in NY. It was clean, they cleaned the room every day, close to subway. People are very nice.

  • Naomi from United Kingdom (8/10)

    Helpful staff. Extremely comfy bed

  • Emma from United Kingdom (9/10)

The staff are very friendly and super helpful. It’s a small hotel and so it feels more personal. The location in Chinatown means you are well based to get around Manhattan. It might not suit everyone who want to be located more around midtown or “smart” areas like Chelsea but for me, it offers great vfm. It was the second time I’ve stayed and I enjoyed it just as much. Much less expensive than most hotels.

  • Marta from Portugal (8/10)

The hotel is really well located. The bedrooms have the right amount of space, taking in account that it's located in Manhattan. It has all the facilities needed.

  • Joan from United Kingdom (8/10)

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was well sound proofed. The shower was good. The bed was comfortable.
