1 Hotel Central Park Overview
You know what struck me first about 1 Hotel Central Park? Walking into the lobby actually feels like stepping into some upscale treehouse – and I mean that in the best way possible. The whole place is obsessed with bringing the outdoors in, which honestly works better than it sounds on paper. They’ve got living walls, reclaimed wood everywhere, and these massive windows that make you forget you’re on crazy-busy Avenue of the Americas.
The location is pretty brilliant, actually. Sure, you’re right in Midtown which can feel overwhelming, but here’s the thing – you’re literally across from Central Park, so when the city noise gets to be too much (and it will), you can just walk across the street and disappear into the Sheep Meadow or the Mall. I mean, how many hotels let you have your morning coffee while staring at actual trees instead of concrete? The rooms on the park side are obviously pricier, but if you can swing it, waking up to that green view instead of another building is worth every penny. The eco-friendly angle isn’t just for show either – they’ve got bamboo linens that are surprisingly soft, and the whole vibe feels intentional rather than gimmicky.
What really sets this place apart though is how they handle the whole luxury thing without being stuffy about it. The staff actually seems to enjoy working there, which you notice immediately during check-in. And speaking of practical stuff – yes, parking exists but it’s expensive (this is Midtown Manhattan, what did you expect?), and the fitness center is legit if you’re into that sort of thing. The restaurant downstairs, Jams, is solid for breakfast though it can get packed with locals too, so maybe don’t plan on sleeping in on weekends. One tiny gripe – the elevators can be slow during busy periods, but honestly that’s pretty standard for hotels this size in the city. The whole sustainability focus might seem like a marketing thing, but they really commit to it in ways that actually enhance your stay rather than just making you feel guilty about towels. If you’re the type who appreciates thoughtful details and doesn’t mind paying for a hotel that feels more like a grown-up summer camp than a corporate box, this place hits different than your typical Manhattan luxury spot.

Fantastic location. My room was functional and the bed extremely comfy. The atmosphere on arrival in the lobby was vibrant and gave a great feeling of contemporary care. The Concierge was truly helpful and the doormen enthusiastic in helping us. The bar & cafe downstairs had great vibe, service & delicious choices.

Location, decor, cleanliness were all fantastic. Modern, funky, natural – so much better than a traditional 4* hotel.
Loved the restaurant and bar area and breakfasts. Yoga mats and foam rollers in the room were a brilliant touch. A hotel that does the details excellently.Hsiu-yu from Taiwan (7/10)
