The rooftop pool – honestly, it’s what sold me on booking here – gives you this incredible view over the Hudson River, and on summer evenings when the sun’s setting, you can see why people pay Manhattan prices just to feel like they’re part of something special. The rooms themselves have this industrial-chic thing going on that actually works (floor-to-ceiling windows, clean lines, that sort of understated luxury that doesn’t scream at you). What I really appreciated was the soundproofing – because let’s be real, the Meatpacking District doesn’t exactly quiet down at 10 PM, especially on weekends when the club crowd spills out onto the streets.

Here’s what you should know if you’re thinking about staying here: parking is going to cost you (this is Manhattan, after all), but you’re within walking distance of some of the best restaurants in the city. I’m talking about places like Pastis just around the corner, or you can wander over to Chelsea Market in about ten minutes. The staff actually knows the area well – they pointed me toward this little wine bar on Gansevoort Street that I never would have found otherwise. The hotel’s restaurant scene is solid too, though honestly, with all the incredible food options right outside your door, you might find yourself eating out more than in. One small thing – the elevators can get a bit crowded during peak times, but that’s pretty typical for boutique hotels in this part of town. The whole experience feels authentic to New York in a way that some of the bigger chain hotels just can’t match, you know? It’s got that 8.2 rating for good reason – not perfect, but genuinely memorable in all the ways that matter when you’re trying to soak up what makes this city special.

  We recently stayed at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC, and while there were some highlights, it wasn’t without its downsides.
  
  The positives: the hotel is clean and well-maintained, with a comfortable bed and very soft pillows (although we did need to request an extra one). The gym and sauna are excellent—well-equipped with new machines, perfect for a good workout. There’s also a pool on the rooftop, which they describe as “heated,” but it felt quite cold to me. On the plus side, the hotel boasts its own Banksy painting, which is a unique touch. Our room had a “good view,” though it was somewhat overshadowed by filthy exterior windows.

  I appreciated that the hotel has a staff member at the door or in the lobby making sure nobody comes in that doesn't belong there – felt safe. Room was quiet and comfortable.
