Explore New York from Queens Overview
First Impressions
When I first walked up to Explore New York from Queens, I’ll be honest — it’s not what you’d expect from a typical hotel. Located on the second floor of a building on 73rd Street, this three-star spot feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a traditional hotel. The entrance might seem unassuming, but that’s actually part of its charm. You’re getting an authentic Queens experience, not some sanitized tourist bubble. The vibe here is refreshingly different from standard chain hotels.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this place — you’re in real Queens, which means you’re experiencing the city like locals do. The subway connections are honestly pretty solid from this area, and you’ll find yourself in Manhattan faster than you’d think. What really struck me was how couples seem to gravitate toward this spot (and I can see why — there’s something intimate about being tucked away from the tourist crowds). The neighborhood has that authentic New York energy without the Times Square chaos, you know what I mean? It’s a genuine slice of city life.
The Space
The room setup here is different from your standard hotel experience. Since you’re essentially on the second floor of a residential building, everything feels more spacious and lived-in. I mean, you’re not getting tiny hotel furniture crammed into a shoebox — there’s actually room to spread out. The recent guests have been rating the location an 8.8, and after staying here, I totally get it. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. The atmosphere truly captures that residential comfort.
Getting Around
One thing that surprised me was how easy it was to navigate from here. Sure, you’re not walking distance from Central Park, but the subway access means you can be in Midtown in about 30 minutes. And honestly? Coming back to Queens after a day of Manhattan madness feels like a relief. There’s parking available too, which — let me tell you — is not something you take for granted in New York. If you’re driving in, that’s actually a huge advantage over most Manhattan options. Transportation couldn’t be more convenient.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.4 rating really reflects what this place does well — it gives you a genuine New York experience without breaking the bank or overwhelming you with tourist trap nonsense. Couples especially seem to appreciate the more residential vibe, and I can see why. There’s something romantic about having your own little corner of Queens to retreat to. You’re close enough to explore everything the city offers, but far enough away to actually get some peace and quiet when you need it. It’s not fancy, but it’s real — and sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a New York stay. This hotel delivers authenticity above all else.
Hotels in New York tower over skyline rooftops, leafy brownstone lanes, and waterfront promenades.

A short walk (2.5 blocks) from a busy metro station, so transport into NYC is straightforward. The neighborhood is quiet (for NYC) and has plenty of trees around.

For our first time visiting New York, this flat has been just great: located in a quiet residential area very close to groceries shops and restaurants, it has everything you need to rest properly and cook for yourselves if you are tired after a long day walking around the city. Beds are comfy and kitchen is well equipped. The flat is 8 mins walk from a subway station which takes you to Manhattan in less than 30 mins. The host has been kind and helpful, check-in and check-out were very easy because the communication was clear and precise.

La ligne E permet de rejoindre manhatan en 10mn. Le quartier est calme. De nombreux commerces se situent autour de la station de métro.
