Plus, you can store leftovers from all those massive New York portions instead of watching half your meal go to waste.

It’s a 3-star Marriott, so you know exactly what you’re getting: clean, reliable, with that familiar hotel smell that’s somehow comforting when you’re far from home. But here’s the thing that really won me over – the neighborhood actually gets quiet at night. You’d think being this close to Times Square would mean sirens and street noise until dawn, but West 44th has this surprising calm after about 11 PM. The windows do a decent job with sound anyway, though you’ll still hear the occasional taxi honking (it’s New York, after all).

Check-in was refreshingly smooth – no weird upselling or confusing key card situations. The staff seemed to actually know the area too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about the best way to get to the High Line without dealing with tourist crowds, the desk clerk gave me this specific route through Chelsea that saved me probably an hour of shoulder-to-shoulder walking. That kind of local knowledge makes a difference when you’re trying to see the city efficiently.

The 8.5 rating makes sense to me. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, but it delivers on what matters – location, space, and that reliable Marriott consistency that means your shower will have good water pressure and your WiFi won’t cut out during important video calls.   Perfect location, just two minutes walk from Times Square and 20m from the subway station to get to the airport and the main attractions. Breakfast, both sweet and savoury, not too much choice but good. Not much space in the breakfast room, but you can always find room on the sofas. Rooms not very large but adequate and with cooking facilities. Very friendly staff. Cleanliness excellent. Definitely my place to stay if I ever get back to New York!

  All the staff were extremely helpful. But I'd like to mention 2. We arrived in the evening after a long, tiring day. Chantelle was so welcoming to us all, explained the layout and facilities.
  Micheal was also very helpful in suggesting the best routes to take and answering general questions.
  The complementary breakfast was plentiful with a good selection to choose from. The waffles and pan cakes were delicious. Thank you 😊
