Courtyard by Marriott New York World Trade Center Area Overview
You know what struck me first about the Courtyard by Marriott near the World Trade Center? It’s actually quiet at night, which honestly surprised me given that you’re basically in the heart of lower Manhattan. I mean, you’re on Greenwich Street – like, literally walking distance from the 9/11 Memorial and the Oculus – but somehow the rooms don’t get that constant city buzz that keeps you up. Maybe it’s because most of the Financial District empties out after business hours, but whatever the reason, I slept really well there.
The lobby has this modern, clean look that doesn’t try too hard to be fancy (it’s a 3-star place, after all), and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood when I asked about grabbing dinner. They pointed me toward Stone Street, which turned out to be this cute cobblestone area with outdoor dining that I never would’ve found on my own. The rooms are what you’d expect from Marriott – nothing groundbreaking, but everything works and it’s clean. The shower pressure was solid, and I appreciated having a good workspace since I had some emails to catch up on. Actually, the WiFi was fast enough that I could video call without any issues.
Here’s the thing about staying down here – you’re perfectly positioned for the tourist stuff if that’s your agenda, but you’re also connected to the rest of the city in ways that some of the Midtown hotels aren’t. The R and W trains are right there at Cortlandt Street, and you can walk to the Brooklyn Bridge in about ten minutes if you cut through the park area near the memorial. I did that early one morning and it was honestly pretty magical with the sunrise hitting the water. The area does get busy during the day with all the memorial visitors and people working in the Financial District, but by evening it settles down to mostly locals grabbing drinks at places like Jeremy’s Ale House (which, fair warning, is definitely a dive bar but in the best possible way). One small thing – parking isn’t easy around there, but if you’re flying into NYC anyway, you probably don’t need a car. The hotel staff mentioned some nearby garages, but honestly, you’re better off just using the subway or walking everywhere from this location.

If you’re looking for a hotel in Lower Manhattan, Courtyard by Marriott New York World Trade Center is an excellent choice for its unbeatable location. Situated close to the World Trade Center, Staten Island Ferry, and several subway lines, it offers convenient access to the best of New York City. The front office staff deserves a special mention for their cheerful demeanor. While they couldn’t accommodate our request for an early check-in, they helpfully stored our luggage, allowing us to explore the vibrant surrounding neighborhood.

The hotel was easy to get to, the bed was super comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We were able to leave our bags while we went out before the check in time and we were also able to check in early, which was great. The location was also great, with subway stations close by.
