Residence Inn by Marriott New York JFK Airport Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Residence Inn by Marriott New York JFK Airport, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from an airport hotel. But this three-star property actually surprised me in the best way. The building sits on 135th Avenue in Queens, and while it’s clearly designed for travelers, there’s something refreshingly straightforward about the whole setup. You know what really caught my attention? The parking situation — having your own guaranteed spot when you’re dealing with New York area logistics is honestly a game-changer.
The Room Experience
Here’s where this place really shines — every room is actually a suite with a full kitchen. I mean, we’re talking about a real refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, and dishwasher, not just some mini-fridge situation. The living area feels separate from the bedroom, which makes a huge difference when you’re staying more than one night. The beds are comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the work desk setup is actually functional if you need to get things done. Plus, the Wi-Fi doesn’t crawl along like it does at some airport hotels.
Location Reality Check
Look, you’re not staying here for the neighborhood charm — this is Queens near the airport, and it feels like it. But that’s actually the point, and it works well for what it is. JFK is literally minutes away, which saved me so much stress on early morning flights. There’s a decent diner within walking distance, and if you need anything else, there are shopping centers nearby that you can reach easily with a car. The area feels safe, even late at night when you’re coming back from delayed flights.
Breakfast and Amenities
The complimentary breakfast here is better than I expected — they do a proper American buffet with hot items, not just pastries and coffee. I actually looked forward to it each morning, which says something. The restaurant area gets busy around 7 AM with business travelers, but the staff keeps things moving. There’s also a small fitness center and a pool, though honestly, I didn’t use either during my stay. What I did appreciate was the 24-hour market in the lobby when I needed snacks or forgot something essential.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel gets an 8.6 rating for good reason — it delivers exactly what airport travelers need without any pretense. The suite setup means you can actually live here comfortably for extended stays, and couples seem to particularly appreciate having space to spread out (they rated the location 8.5, which makes sense). The staff knows their guests are often dealing with travel stress, and they’re genuinely helpful about things like shuttle timing and local directions. It’s not fancy, but it’s reliable, comfortable, and honestly more pleasant than most airport hotels I’ve experienced.
Apartments in New York suit remote creatives with sunlit studios, editing bays, and co-working rooftops.

The staff is INCREDIBLE!! I cannot believe the kindness and warmth with which I was received and treated from the minute I entered the doors. Ever single member of staff I interacted with was amazing and lovely – reception, door staff, breakfast staff, cleaning staff, maintenance, shuttle drivers, literally everyone. I was there as a bit of a pit stop transitioning as part of my relocation out of NYC so I was naturally a bit pensive and maybe a bit sad and their warm reception was EVERYTHING! I had also just returned from a work trip from Korea so I had a suitcase full of clothes that needed to be laundered and I made use of the laundry room with complimentary detergent from the front office. The manager gave me late check out as my next flight to Switzerland was late in the evening and I really appreciated it. Thank you so much Residence Inn. You made my final stay in NYC so memorable. Thank you for your kindness ❤️

I booked it last minute, beacuse my flight got cancelled. Check-in at nearly 1am was no problem. The room was fairly big, with a small kitchennette. I was almost sad I was only staying for one night. Greate breakfast was appreciated too.
