Welcome to “Sunny Park Slope Retreat”! Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Welcome to “Sunny Park Slope Retreat”! on Union Street, you immediately get why this three-star spot has such a devoted following. The building itself has that classic Brooklyn charm — you know, the kind where you can picture yourself actually living here rather than just passing through. It’s not trying to be fancy, which honestly feels refreshing after dealing with all those sterile hotel chains. The entrance has this welcoming, almost residential vibe that makes you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place who just happens to have really good taste.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Park Slope — it’s one of those Brooklyn neighborhoods that locals actually want to live in, not just visit. You’re literally a few blocks from Prospect Park, which means morning runs or lazy afternoon picnics are totally doable. The 756 Union Street address puts you right in the sweet spot where you’ve got the R train nearby but you’re not dealing with the chaos of being too close to Atlantic Terminal. I mean, couples consistently rate this location 8.8 out of 10, and after spending time here, I get it — there’s something about being able to walk to actual neighborhood spots rather than tourist traps.
The Space
The room I stayed in had this bright, airy quality that totally lives up to the \”sunny\” part of the name. Large windows actually let in natural light (shocking, I know, but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong). The space feels more like a well-designed apartment than a typical hotel setup — there’s a small kitchenette area that’s actually functional if you want to grab groceries from the nearby co-op and make breakfast. The decor strikes this nice balance between modern and cozy without feeling like it’s trying too hard to be Instagram-worthy.
Neighborhood Perks
What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area — they pointed me toward this little restaurant on 7th Avenue that I never would have found otherwise. The whole Park Slope scene is walkable in a way that makes you forget you’re technically still in New York City. You’ve got the farmers market on weekends, decent coffee shops that aren’t chains, and honestly, just a general sense that people live normal lives here. There’s parking on the street if you’re driving, though honestly, you probably won’t need a car much once you’re settled in.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests rated the location 9.1, and after staying here, that number makes total sense. It’s not about being in the middle of everything — it’s about being somewhere that feels authentic while still being connected to the rest of the city. The retreat manages to give you that local Brooklyn experience without the premium prices you’d pay in Manhattan. You’re getting genuine neighborhood vibes, a comfortable space that doesn’t feel cramped, and the kind of location where you might actually discover something new rather than just checking boxes off a tourist list.

The location of the property is just perfect. Quiet but close enough to amenities. There is a great shop underneath and short walk to subway. Equipped basic but well enough and very quick to respond to an internet issue.
