The three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not — instead, it nails the essentials with clean lines, comfortable seating areas, and staff who actually seem to know what they’re doing. You know what impressed me most? How quickly you can get checked in and escape to your room when the street energy becomes too much.

Location Magic

Honestly, the location is pretty much unbeatable if you want to be in the thick of things. You’re on West 40th Street, which puts you close enough to Times Square that you can walk there in two minutes, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the worst of the tourist crowds right outside your door. The subway connections are fantastic — Bryant Park station is practically around the corner, and you’ve got multiple lines within easy walking distance. What I really appreciated was being able to grab coffee and breakfast spots that locals actually use, not just the tourist traps. Couples seem to love it here, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about having all of Manhattan at your fingertips.

The Room Experience

The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a well-run Courtyard property, but honestly, that’s a good thing in this location. They’re not huge — this is Manhattan, after all — but they’re smartly designed with everything you actually need. The beds are comfortable (which matters when you’ve been walking around the city all day), and the bathrooms are modern and functional. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it stays at night, considering you’re in one of the busiest areas of the city. The windows offer decent views, though don’t expect anything spectacular — you’re paying for location here, not panoramic vistas.

Breakfast and Dining

The American breakfast setup works well for getting your day started before heading out to explore. It’s not fancy, but it’s substantial and well-executed — think quality coffee, fresh options, and enough variety to keep you satisfied. What I actually preferred, though, was having so many great breakfast and dining options within a few blocks. You’re close to some excellent delis, coffee shops, and restaurants that give you a real taste of New York without the Times Square markup. The hotel’s dining serves its purpose, but the neighborhood is really the star when it comes to food.

This hotel succeeds because it understands its role perfectly — it’s your comfortable, reliable home base in an incredible location. You’re not paying for over-the-top amenities or upscale touches; you’re paying to sleep well and wake up in the heart of Manhattan. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping guests navigate the city, and the whole operation runs smoothly despite the constant flow of travelers. For couples especially, there’s something special about being able to experience all the energy of Times Square and then retreat to a peaceful, well-managed hotel just steps away.

  Location to Times Square good. Although turn left out of the entrance a little further down the road and there was always a group of men smoking drugs. Not pleasant.

  Whenever you rate a hotel in New York you have to compare to other NY hotels, not hotels in general. You are going to pay a lot and the room will be small. This property is a very good value, and in an excellent location. Half a block from Bryant Park and half a block from Times Square, yet very quiet. Staff was friendly and quickly attended to a minor maintenance issue in the room.
