The Canal Street station is practically outside your door, which honestly makes getting anywhere in the city pretty painless. Sure, Canal Street itself can get a bit hectic during the day with all the vendors and foot traffic, but by evening it settles down, and the rooms are surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the middle of everything.

The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – nothing fancy, but clean and functional with decent Wi-Fi and air conditioning that actually works (trust me, that’s not always a given in older NYC buildings). I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or fancy toiletries, but the beds are comfortable enough and there’s adequate space for your stuff without feeling cramped. What I appreciated most was how well-maintained everything felt – no weird stains on carpets or funky smells that make you wonder about the last guest. The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work. One small thing that stood out: the windows actually open, which is rare in hotels these days, and on cooler evenings you can skip the AC and get some fresh air. Just be aware that weekend mornings can get a bit lively with delivery trucks serving all the restaurants below, but honestly, that’s just part of the authentic New York experience.   Room fairly average but beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water for everyone each day.
  Think we got quite lucky with quiet neighbours as the one night someone came in late and noisily we could hear their whole conversation on the landing.

  I was impressed with this hotel. I wanted a budget friendly place to stay and was worried some things might be not so great. The lobby is small but nicely decorated. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was fantastic! The view was nice. I will definitely being staying here again.

  People that gripe about the location have never been to NYC. There are going to be shady people everywhere. Chinatown is no exception. I’d be way more worried staying in Times Square. Staff was super nice and location is convenient and close to everything. Especially if you want to grab a bite late. Literally a couple blocks from Little Italy also.
