You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from a themed hotel in Times Square – honestly, most of them feel like tourist traps with overpriced everything. But Margaritaville Resort actually surprised me in the best way. Walking into the lobby on 7th Avenue, you get hit with this laid-back Caribbean vibe that somehow works despite being smack in the middle of Manhattan’s chaos. The whole Jimmy Buffett thing could’ve been cheesy, but they pulled it off with these weathered wood accents and tropical colors that don’t feel forced. Check-in was smooth (thank god, because I’d just dealt with Penn Station crowds), and the staff genuinely seemed happy to be there – which, I mean, is rare in midtown hotels.

The rooms are solid for the area – not huge, but you’re not paying for space in Times Square anyway. What I loved was the attention to detail: the shower actually has good water pressure, the AC works quietly (crucial when you’re literally above one of the busiest intersections in the world), and they’ve got blackout curtains that actually block out those neon signs. The “Margaritaville” touches are subtle – a few nautical elements, some weathered finishes – without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a theme park. Honestly, the soundproofing impressed me most. You’d think being right there on 7th Avenue would mean constant noise, but once you close the door, it’s surprisingly peaceful. I slept better than I expected, even with all the Broadway theater crowds flowing past around 11 PM.

What really sets this place apart is how it handles its location. Yeah, you’re in the thick of Times Square madness, but the hotel feels like a little escape from it. The rooftop area (when it’s open) gives you those classic city views without the street-level craziness, and the restaurant downstairs actually serves decent food – not just tourist-markup garbage. Plus, you’re literally steps from the subway lines, which makes getting anywhere in the city ridiculously easy. I walked to Bryant Park in about eight minutes, hit up some Broadway shows within a block or two, and could grab late-night food without venturing far. The neighborhood gets loud and crowded, sure, but that’s part of the Times Square experience. If you want quiet, you wouldn’t book here anyway. For what it is – a well-run hotel that embraces its touristy location without being tacky about it – Margaritaville delivers. The 8.6 rating makes sense; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it does what it promises really well.

  I was pleasantly surprised. It was my first visit to a Margaritaville resort. The staff were all friendly and efficient. The room was great and for midtown Manhattan a good size too. Good bars good coffee shop great views. When I asked for a taxi to leave they got me one in no time when it was really busy. I shall return.
