Roxy Hotel New York Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in NYC, and the Roxy in Tribeca honestly caught me off guard in the best way. Walking up to 2 Avenue of the Americas – which locals just call Sixth Avenue, by the way – you’re not expecting much from the outside. It’s this sort of understated building that doesn’t scream “boutique hotel,” but that’s actually part of its charm. The neighborhood itself is perfectly positioned too; you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Canal Street subway chaos, but far enough away that you’re not hearing sirens all night long.
What really gets me about this place is how they nailed that sweet spot between trying too hard and not caring enough. The lobby has this lived-in music venue vibe – think velvet chairs that actually look comfortable rather than just Instagram-worthy, and lighting that makes you look good without being so dim you can’t find your room key. I mean, it’s got that rock-and-roll aesthetic without feeling like a Hard Rock Cafe threw up everywhere. The rooms are… well, they’re New York hotel rooms, so don’t expect a palace, but they’re thoughtfully designed. Actually comfortable beds (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than marble countertops when you’re dealing with subway grime.
You know what I really appreciated? The staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about good coffee that wasn’t Starbucks, the guy at the front desk sent me to this tiny place on White Street instead of just shrugging. And speaking of the area – you’re walking distance from some seriously good food without the tourist trap prices you’d pay near Times Square. Locanda Verde is right downstairs if you want to splurge, but there’s also amazing dim sum in Chinatown just a few blocks south, and the whole SoHo shopping scene is right there when you feel like wandering. The hotel gets busy on weekends – lots of people in town for shows or just escaping to the city – but it never felt chaotic or like they were overwhelmed. Check-in was smooth even when I arrived during what looked like a small convention group. That 8.6 rating makes sense when you stay there; it’s not perfect, but it gets the important stuff right and has enough personality that you remember it fondly rather than just as “that place I slept in New York.”

Great location and super cool bar
Nellie from United States (9/10)
Great location, friendly staff. The hotel is geared more toward entertainment than business travelers. No USB chargers in the room and hard to get to outlets. There is live jazz every night (and it is great!) but also loud until 10pm or so.
Stephen from United States (8/10)
King sized bed, tons of fun at the hotels facilities.
דני from Israel (9/10)
Great service, a comfortable and large room, a particularly comfortable bed. Excellent jazz performances (those who wanted to sleep before 10 pm can find it as a problem, but who wants to have slip with such performances in a bar) amazing hotel!
