Library Hotel by Library Hotel Collection Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Library Hotel by Library Hotel Collection feels like discovering a secret literary sanctuary in the middle of Manhattan’s bustle. I mean, this four-star boutique hotel takes its book theme seriously — each of the ten floors is dedicated to a different category of the Dewey Decimal System, which sounds quirky but actually creates this really thoughtful, curated atmosphere. The lobby immediately sets the tone with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and cozy reading nooks that make you want to settle in with a good novel, even though you’re probably itching to explore the city.
Location & Neighborhood
You honestly can’t beat this spot on Madison Avenue in Murray Hill — it’s one of those locations that makes you feel like a savvy New Yorker rather than just another tourist. The hotel sits right between Midtown’s energy and the more residential charm of Murray Hill, so you get the best of both worlds. Grand Central is literally a few blocks away, which makes airport transfers a breeze, and you’re within easy walking distance of the Empire State Building, Bryant Park, and some fantastic restaurants that locals actually frequent. What I love is that couples seem to really get it — they’ve rated the location 9.7, and I can see why since it’s romantic without being touristy.
The Literary Experience
Here’s where the Library Hotel by Library Hotel Collection really shines — they’ve committed to the concept without making it feel gimmicky. Each room is stocked with books related to its floor’s theme, so you might find yourself in a room dedicated to astronomy or philosophy. The Poetry Garden rooftop is honestly one of the city’s best-kept secrets, offering incredible views and a peaceful escape that most hotels just can’t match. There’s something genuinely inspiring about sipping a drink surrounded by literary quotes while looking out over the Manhattan skyline — it’s the kind of detail that makes this place memorable.
Comfort & Dining
The beds here are seriously comfortable — like, sink-into-them-after-a-long-day-of-walking-around-New-York comfortable. I’ve stayed in plenty of boutique hotels where style trumps substance, but this place nails both. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Manhattan, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed with rich colors and that literary theme woven throughout. As for food, the meals here have earned quite a reputation — breakfast includes continental options and grab-and-go choices, which is perfect when you want to fuel up quickly and hit the streets.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back isn’t just the novelty of the book theme — it’s how the hotel manages to feel both sophisticated and welcoming. You get that boutique hotel charm without the pretentiousness, and the staff genuinely seems to care about creating a memorable experience. The location score of 9.7 speaks for itself, but what really matters is how this place makes you feel like you’re part of New York’s cultural fabric rather than just passing through it. Whether you’re a book lover or not, there’s something special about staying somewhere that celebrates knowledge and creativity in the heart of one of the world’s greatest cities.

The hotel was so beautiful and truly boutique and felt very cosy and atmospheric amongst the hustle and bustle of Midtown. It's in a brilliant location near the big sights and also Grand Central station, which made it super convenient for sightseeing and general travel. Our room was bigger than I expected, and super clean with nice toiletries. Staff were friendly, helpful and polite, too. I loved that lots of books were available to peruse during our stay, and the lounge available to guests was such a peaceful and enjoyable spot – more books, lots of refreshments available, and very "New York". The hotel is located in the library district, close to the Public Library which is just a 5 min walk away, and near the trail with lots of book-related plaques on the pavement. There's also a restaurant attached to the hotel which serves delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner (and brunch at the weekend). Would highly recommend this lovely hotel and we would happily stay again!

Amazing location. We walked to most places and it was close to the subway.

Excellent front desk people, clean and comfortable room even in the “petite” size (best for one person), excellent location to Grand Central and everywhere else in mid-town Manhattan. As a person who loves libraries, let alone one located on NYC’s Library Way and a stone’s throw from NYPL, this was a wonderful place to stay! Being in NYC, there wasn’t a lot of time to read all the books surrounding me, but it made me feel instantly at home.
