Hotel Beacon Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hotel Beacon, you immediately get that classic New York feeling without the stuffiness that comes with some of the city’s older properties. The lobby has this warm, residential vibe that actually makes sense once you realize you’re basically in one of Manhattan’s most livable neighborhoods. It’s not trying to be the flashiest four-star hotel in the city, and honestly, that’s exactly what works about it. The staff genuinely seems to remember guests — which explains why so many people keep coming back here.
Upper West Side Perfection
Here’s the thing about the location: you’re right on Broadway between 74th and 75th Streets, which means you’re in the sweet spot of the Upper West Side. Lincoln Center is a pleasant 10-minute walk south, Central Park is literally across the street, and you’ve got the 72nd Street subway station close enough that getting downtown is no hassle at all. What I love is that couples consistently rate this location a 9.6 — and I get it. You can grab coffee at Zabar’s, stroll through Riverside Park, or catch a show at the Beacon Theatre (no relation to the hotel, but still cool). It feels like you’re living in New York rather than just visiting it.
The Rooms
The rooms are where Hotel Beacon really delivers on comfort over flash. You know what struck me? The beds are genuinely exceptional — guests consistently rave about getting great sleep here, which is honestly rare in Manhattan. Many rooms have kitchenettes, which is incredibly practical if you’re staying more than a couple nights or traveling with family. The decor is clean and contemporary without being cold, and the windows are large enough that you actually get decent natural light. Some rooms have park views, though even the Broadway-facing ones aren’t too noisy thanks to good soundproofing.
Breakfast and Amenities
The breakfast setup offers both continental and American options, and while it’s not going to blow your mind, it’s solid and convenient — especially when you factor in that eating breakfast in this neighborhood otherwise can get pricey fast. There’s a fitness center that’s compact but well-equipped, and the business center works fine if you need to print boarding passes or handle quick work stuff. What I appreciate is that everything feels thoughtfully maintained rather than just adequate.
Why Guests Love It
The repeat guest factor here tells you everything you need to know — people discover Hotel Beacon and then keep coming back because it just works. It’s that rare combination of being in an absolutely prime location while still feeling like a neighborhood place rather than a tourist trap. You’re paying for a four-star experience that focuses on the fundamentals: comfortable beds, a great location, and staff who actually care about your stay. If you want to feel like a temporary Upper West Sider rather than just another tourist, this is your spot.

Having a kitchenette in the room is so useful in NYC where even a small breakfast is very expensive.
Ask for a quite room and it will be on a side street with very little noise.
Staff is exceptionally friendly.

We loved our stay! Came for just a night to see a concert next door with our 5 year old. Loved being able to leave the venue and be in our room minutes later. We were upgraded to an executive suite and it was STUNNING. Staff were helpful, room was incredible, would absolutely return next time we want to see a show at the Beacon Theater.
